Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (510) - THE CRAIGENGOWER CRICKET CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 KING MILES (J158) C L Chau C L Chau reported that after being bumped heavily shortly after the start, when a number of runners to his inside showed superior pace, he elected to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to obtain cover.
Horse No 3 BIENVENUE (J490) Z Purton Shortly after the start made contact with VULCANUS due to both runners shifting ground.
Z Purton stated that his mount finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, was reluctant to race in amongst other horses.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, BIENVENUE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 SIGHT HERMOSO (L003) D B McMonagle Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SUGAR SUGAR (G016) B Avdulla B Avdulla stated that his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight after settling further back in the field than he had intended.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 VULCANUS (J150) H Bowman Shortly after the start made contact with BIENVENUE due to both runners shifting ground.
Approaching the 300 Metres was eased to avoid KING MILES which shifted out to improve.
Horse No 7 PRESTIGE ALWAYS (J300) H Bentley Shifted out shortly after the start and made heavy contact with KING OF FIGHTERS.
Approaching the 1000 Metres raced keenly when being steadied to allow SIGHT HERMOSO to cross.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 IGOT (K170) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on IGOT at the request of Trainer C H Yip.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, IGOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 KING OF FIGHTERS (K174) K Teetan Shortly after the start was checked when badly crowded between KING MILES and PRESTIGE ALWAYS which shifted out and away from SUGAR SUGAR when that runner shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Sight Hermoso travelled prominently one off the fence from gate nine and responded nicely to get up 80m out for a third win plus four placings from nine starts. King Of Fighters ran on nicely for second settling midfield on the fence following a sluggish start. He appreciated a return to the course and distance of a third in September after two Sha Tin defeats. Jumbo Treasure succumbed late to finish a distant third after leading on his own from gate seven. He has run well in all three Valley 1,200m runs. Igor Stravinsky gradually faded for fourth after a speed-tracking run from gate 10. He will be looking forward to a downgrade after running with merit in three consecutive runs. King Miles ran on without threatening after biding his time two from the rear. The big weight continues to anchor him. Favourite Bienvenue came up flat over the final 150m after straightening tight for room until the 200m following a box-seat run. It was an out-of-character run. Sugar Sugar made only a mild bid from near the rear. Prestige Always will sleep well after a wide trip without cover from behind midfield.
