Race Nine : (494) - SICHUAN BIPENGGOU TOURIST ATTRACTIONS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 SILVERY BREEZE (K057) H Bowman Approaching the 150 Metres was shifted to the inside of CORLEONE to obtain clear running and made contact with SUPER UNICORN.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) D B McMonagle Was crowded on jumping by CHILL KAKA which shifted out.
Horse No 3 CORLEONE (J426) E C W Wong Jumped awkwardly and shifted out at the start.
Lay out in the Home Straight and near the 250 Metres shifted out and made contact with SAMARKAND.
E C W Wong stated that from a wide barrier he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to go forward and lead.
He added that, in his opinion, CORLEONE raced best when able to obtain a position with cover as it did at its most recent win on 4 February 2026.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 VIVA GRACIOUSNESS (J079) A Badel A Badel could offer no explanation for the horse's disappointing performance.

Horse No 8 HAPPY TERCENTENARY (L185) K C Leung From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 SAMARKAND (H070) L Hewitson Approaching the 300 Metres improved to the outside of CORLEONE.
A short distance later CORLEONE lay out, resulting in it making contact with SAMARKAND near the 250 Metres and taking SAMARKAND wider.

Near the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid VIVA GRACIOUSNESS.
Horse No 12 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) Y L Chung After the 250 Metres was bumped by SAMARKAND.
GENERAL:

After the running of Race 3, the track classification was officially changed from "Good to Yielding" to "Good" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 3 being run on a track rated "Good"

Whip Rule Offences - 1 March 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 1 (475) C L Chau (CHARITY TOGETHER) was fined the sum of $10,000 in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on two occasions inside the 100 Metres.
Race 8 (482) M F Poon (HOTT SHOTT) was fined the sum of $5,000 in relation to using his whip on a horse which was clearly out of contention.

Fivefortwo travelled one off behind midfield before showing a good turn of foot down the outside to win going away 60m out for a second win and first in Class Three over the Valley 1,650m from eight starts. Samarkand just held on for second after moving to the lead 100m out following a box-seat run. It was an improved performance following a stable change. Super Unicorn finished well near the inside to just take third ahead of Silvery Breeze after a rails run from behind midfield. He goes well over this course and distance and was suited by a wet track. Favourite Slivery Breeze just failed to get up for third after ducking inside for a run 150m out following a patient ride two from the rear. It was another honest performance. Withallmyfaith only plodded when asked for more after travelling effectively in the one-one from gate seven. Another Zonda gradually faded to finish next best after tracking the leader Corleone from gate nine. Corleone didn't have much left in the tank over the final 100m after easily clearing to lead from gate 10. Both a rise in weight following a win and the wet going likely worked against him.
