Recap by phillip woo

Heavily backed Verbier was patiently ridden fourth last on the fence and went whoosh through the centre to overhaul Only U 30m out for a second win from 25 starts. It was clearly his best run. Early favourite Only U found one too good after hitting the front 100m out following a one-out, one-back run after facing the breeze three wide for the first 100m. He has been as honest as the day is long without winning this season. Call To Command ran on nicely for third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He should find his way into the winner's circle shortly in this grade. Sterling Wongchoy made good ground late down the outside for fourth after making his run at the back from gate 11. He's a winner waiting to happen but more likely over 1,400m or a mile trip. Oriental Surprise kept on all right after a handy run near the inside as the post-time favourite. He went OK after a near win last Wednesday. Cheer For South had his chance but wasn't good enough after a box-seat run. The all-weather track suits him better. Concorde Star ran on without threatening ridden second last and three wide from gate 12.
