Recap by phillip woo

All's Well settled one off from just worse than midfield and kept on nicely through the centre to take control near the 100m for a second win from 10 starts. Yoda's Choice found one too smart on the day after surging to the lead near the 300m following a speed-tracking run from gate five. Big Return ran on nicely near the inside for third travelling behind midfield on the fence after a slow start. He was able to back up a rallying fourth last start over this track and trip. Bright Day stayed on for fourth after travelling three wide without cover throughout from gate 14. It was a return to form. Forerunner just held his ground after a one-off trip from better than midfield. Jolly Brilliant ran on late for sixth after a wide trip from behind midfield. He proved a hard-charging fifth last start was not a fluke.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (461) - PEACH BLOSSOM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 TURIN CHAMPIONS (L024) H Bowman When questioned H Bowman stated that whilst he had expected to settle back in the field he did not intend to be as far back as what he was in the early stages.

He said after shifting his mount behind runners in the early stages he was satisfied with the horse settling back in the field where it was positioned as TURIN CHAMPIONS was racing comfortably.

He said as he felt the pace was genuine in the early stages he did not push TURIN CHAMPIONS along as he had expected the field to come back to him on the Home Turn and his mount was racing in a comfortable rhythm.

He added when asked for an effort from the 600 Metres TURIN CHAMPIONS lay in and as it was carrying the top weight of 135 lbs and being an inexperienced 3 year old he elected to make ground on the inside, particularly as he felt it was advantageous to do so given today's track pattern.

He said after improving on the Home Turn he followed BIG RETURN into the race from the 400 Metres but had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres.

He said after improving to the outside of BIG RETURN approaching the 100 Metres he then became badly held up over the concluding stages behind BRIGHT DAY and as a consequence TURIN CHAMPIONS went to the finish of the race without being tested.

Trainer D A Hayes stated that whilst he expected the horse to settle back in the field his preference would have been for the horse to make a run wider on the track.

He added after Jockey Bowman explained the reasons why he elected to go to the inside he accepted his explanation.

After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman were reasonable in the circumstances.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 MABUBU (K586) C Y Ho C Y Ho could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance.

Trainer W Y So stated the horse had pleased him leading into the race but could offer no excuse for the performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MABUBU was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, MABUBU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
