Race Five : (459) - THE HEUNG YEE KUK CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SMART GOLF (L004) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 QUARTZ LEGEND (K548) D B McMonagle Near the 100 Metres was hampered when it shifted out and away from WORLD HERO and made contact with NEXT FORTUNE.
Noted to have sustained an abrasion to its left hind leg after the race.
Horse No 3 KING PROFIT (J539) E C W Wong Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 GALLANT DESIGN (L161) B Avdulla B Avdulla stated that from a wide barrier he was obliged to settle back in the field.
He added in the Home Straight he was satisfied with the horse's finishing effort as it continued to make ground under pressure.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 DASHING PEACH (L066) K Teetan Raced keenly in the middle stages.
Over the concluding stages was hampered when NEXT FORTUNE shifted in.
Noted to have blood in its mouth after the race.
Horse No 6 NEXT FORTUNE (L199) M L Yeung Near the 100 Metres ALABAMA SONG (A Atzeni) was shifted to the outside of KING PROFIT to improve, resulting in WORLD HERO being taken out onto QUARTZ LEGEND which then shifted out and away from WORLD HERO, resulting in NEXT FORTUNE making heavy contact with GET FRIENDLY.
A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Horse No 7 SEA DIAMOND (L072) H Bowman A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 TOP MAESTRO (K578) H T Mo Fractious in the starting gates, jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 900 Metres, when racing keenly, improved to the inside of QUARTZ LEGEND as QUARTZ LEGEND improved to the inside of ALABAMA SONG.
A short distance later when the pace of the event steadied ALABAMA SONG then shifted in slightly and it was then unable to relieve the crowding to its inside when racing tight to the inside of GET FRIENDLY.
The Stewards found the racing manners of TOP MAESTRO was the significant contributor to the interference.
TOP MAESTRO continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages and near the 700 Metres was steadied away from QUARTZ LEGEND.
Again near the 550 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from QUARTZ LEGEND.
Horse No 9 POWER PATCH (L100) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
Raced keenly when obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Bumped approaching the winning post.
Horse No 10 GET FRIENDLY (L069) C L Chau Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by KING PROFIT which shifted in.
Near the 100 Metres was bumped heavily by NEXT FORTUNE.
Horse No 12 HONORARY (K481) M F Poon Reared on jumping and lost ground.
In the early stages raced keenly and leaving the 1000 Metres shifted out and made contact with SAME TO YOU.
Approaching the winning post shifted out and as a result made contact with POWER PATCH.
Horse No 13 SAME TO YOU (H057) A Badel For some distance near the 1000 Metres raced keenly when being steadied away from QUARTZ LEGEND.
Horse No 14 WORLD HERO (J413) R Kingscote Taken out slightly near the 100 Metres.

Smart Golf tracked the speed before moving to the lead 230m and proving too smart for a second win from four starts. King Profit grudgingly gave way after dictating the pace from gate 10. He was able to back up a front-running fifth last start over 1,400m. Alabama Song ran on nicely along the inside for third after a rails run from midfield. It was his best effort from eight starts this term. World Hero whacked on one paced for fourth after a box-seat run. It was a better effort after struggling efforts in his past two starts. Quartz Legend made ground near the inside for fifth after making his run four back on the fence. It was a much better effort at his second run down in Class Four over the Sha Tin 1,200m. Get Friendly made only a mild bid after a one-off trip from midfield. Gallant Design was doing his best work late down the outside without threatening after making his run third last from gate 13. Next Fortune faded after a prominent run.
