Recap by phillip woo

Baby Sakura sat outside the leader Elite Golf from barrier 11 and was too good after leading 150m out. It was a smart performance on debut. Elite Golf kept on gamely for second after a flying start from gate 14. He was able to back up a win carrying 8lb more following a salute at his second start. Russet Glow ran on nicely along the inside to spice up the exotics after a rails run from just worse than midfield following a slow start. He was able to build on an OK effort on debut last month. Better And Better cost punters yet again when hit late to jump favourite. He could only manage fourth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. Sky Phoenix stayed on all right for fifth after sitting near the speed. It was a much-improved effort at his third start. So My Folks came from last to finish next best. He has shown hints of ability in his six starts across both surfaces.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (447) - FAT CHOI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 ELITE GOLF (L023) H Bentley H Bentley reported that his mount hung out throughout the event and in the Home Straight proved difficult to ride which resulted in it making contact with BABY SAKURA near the 200 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 ETERNAL RICHNESS (K557) A Atzeni Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 3 NOVA KNIGHT (K518) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 4 MASTER PHOENIX (J516) C Y Ho Approaching the 800 Metres improved to the inside of BETTER AND BETTER.

A short distance later BETTER AND BETTER shifted in when being steadied, resulting in MASTER PHOENIX being crowded in onto KIAMA, causing MASTER PHOENIX to become unbalanced when it made contact with KIAMA.

Shifted out leaving the 600 Metres and was bumped.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 SUPERB BOY (G335) H Bowman Bumped on jumping.

H Bowman stated that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount did not respond and when he was concerned there was something amiss with the horse from the 200 Metres he eased it down over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPERB BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 GOOD LUCK HAPPY (K301) Z Purton Z Purton reported that his mount raced keenly when obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

He added in the Home Straight his mount did not respond to his riding.

Trainer A S Cruz advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and stated, in his opinion, GOOD LUCK HAPPY was disadvantaged by being obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GOOD LUCK HAPPY was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, GOOD LUCK HAPPY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Approaching the 800 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by MASTER PHOENIX.

Horse No 13 SO MY FOLKS (K456) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly.

Raced keenly in the middle stages and for some distance near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid QUICK MONEY.

B Avdulla stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position with cover.

Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and stated he issued such instructions as SO MY FOLKS had not been finishing its races off when ridden forward and he was also of the view it was advantaged to settle back in the field and make a wide run in the Home Straight.

Horse No 14 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) M Guyon Near the 800 Metres was steadied to obtain a position with cover behind ETERNAL RICHNESS.

A short distance later BETTER AND BETTER was then steadied when crowded between ETERNAL RICHNESS and GOOD LUCK HAPPY (Z Purton) which shifted in.
