Recap by phillip woo

Chill Buddy travelled one off punching the breeze in third from gate five before reeling in early favourite Red Sea for the lead 150m out en route to victory. Mickley came from near last and widest out to grab second. It was his best run from seven starts this term. Red Sea grudgingly gave way after quickly crossing to lead from the widest draw. It was a solid effort on his local debut. Quantum Cloud ran on well for fourth after making his run three from the rear. It was an encouraging run on his local debut. Well-backed Harold Win stayed on for fifth after getting posted three wide from midfield. It was another honest performance. Wonderstar gradually faded after getting held up early in the straight chasing the winner on the fence. Punted late Anode just plodded after getting posted four wide without cover travelling better than midfield. Joltin made some ground without threatening travelling last after a tardy start at his first start in Hong Kong.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (436) - TVB YAN CHAI CHARITY SHOW HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MICKLEY (K082) J Orman Near the 500 Metres was bumped by LUCKY TOGETHER when that runner was taken wider.

In the Home Straight lay in under pressure.

Horse No 2 RED SEA (L195) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly and then made contact with JOLTIN.

Horse No 3 WONDERSTAR (J531) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.

In the middle stages raced keenly when being steadied to allow RED SEA to cross.

Between the 450 Metres and the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of RED SEA.

Horse No 4 ANODE (K367) E C W Wong Shifted out abruptly on jumping and was bumped.

When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that he was requested to hold an on-pace position.

He said as his mount was dropping back in distance he rode it along in the early stages to ensure he was able to comply with his instructions.

He said when caught wide to the outside of HAROLD WIN in the early stages and when his mount was not showing sufficient pace to cross that runner, he then elected to endeavour to obtain cover behind HAROLD WIN.

He added as ANODE was racing keenly it would not respond to his efforts to restrain and obtain cover which resulted in ANODE racing very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 5 HAROLD WIN (J280) H Bowman Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 6 CHILL BUDDY (K469) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 JOLTIN (L186) M L Yeung At declaration time, M L Yeung was declared as the rider of both JOLTIN and TACTICAL VICTORY.

It was established that M L Yeung had a firm commitment to ride JOLTIN.

As such, the Stewards permitted R Kingscote to be substituted as the rider of TACTICAL VICTORY.

For this declaration error, Jockey Yeung was fined $2,000.

Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between RED SEA and ANODE which shifted out abruptly.

Horse No 8 QUANTUM CLOUD (L221) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its starting gate.

Horse No 9 LUCKY TOGETHER (L079) A Badel Had its right hind plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

After improving to the outside of RISING FROM ASHES near the 500 Metres was then hampered when taken wider by RISING FROM ASHES (H T Mo) which shifted out whilst not clear, resulting in LUCKY TOGETHER making contact with MICKLEY.

H T Mo was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 11 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) H T Mo Approaching the 600 Metres was eased when racing tight to the inside of TACTICAL VICTORY.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, RISING FROM ASHES will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
