Lucky Planet cleared Lucky Eight to lead 900m out and gave a cheeky sight to just prevail for a fifth win and first in Class Three from 34 starts. He was able to build on a near win last start. Punted late Beauty Glory just missed after having to avoid a stopping Lucky Eight following a prominent run 780m out. It was an improved effort from a good draw at his fourth outing in Class Three following a Class Four win in November. Symbol Of Strength stayed on a close third after a prominent run one off the fence. He keeps promising without delivering on a win line. Spirit Of Peace made good ground late near the outside for fourth after a wide trip without cover from behind midfield. He hasn't been far off the placings in three consecutive runs over the Valley 1,200m. Harmony N Blessed gradually gave way after a speed-tracking run. It was a better effort on recent starts following a downgrade. Early favourite Refusetobeenglish ran on late through the centre to finish next best ridden for luck at the rear from gate 12. Post-time favourite Lucky Eight went amiss 900m out and had to be pulled up 500m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (433) - SAM CHUK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 SYMBOL OF STRENGTH (K352) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly and then was tightened for room between JOKER ORBIT and HARMONY N BLESSED which shifted out before being straightened by its rider.

Horse No 3 LUCKY PLANET (H235) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SPICY GOLD (H440) D B McMonagle Near the 150 Metres shifted out under pressure and bumped SPIRIT OF PEACE.

Horse No 5 PERFECT GENERAL (J417) E C W Wong Trainer C Fownes advised that the instructions were to ride the horse back in the field from a wide barrier with the amount of noted speed drawn inside.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 700 Metres was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid LUCKY EIGHT which had gone amiss.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 LUCKY EIGHT (G204) B Avdulla After the 900 Metres went amiss and was retired out of the event.

When questioned B Avdulla explained that when his mount was negotiating the turn near the 900 Metres it changed legs and put in an awkward stride.

He said from that point the horse did not feel right in its action and therefore he was left with no option but to retire the horse out of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right hind leg.

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY EIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

Horse No 7 REFUSETOBEENGLISH (K362) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly, making contact with the right side of the barriers, resulting in its rider Z Purton becoming quite unbalanced.

Horse No 8 EVERSTAR (K264) Y L Chung Near the 800 Metres over-raced and shifted out to avoid the heels of BEAUTY GLORY and in doing so resulted in JOKER ORBIT, which was following, shifting in and then being checked to avoid the heels of EVERSTAR.

Horse No 9 JOKER ORBIT (L115) H T Mo Passing the 600 Metres got unbalanced when racing tight between PERFECT GENERAL and SPIRIT OF PEACE and subsequently lost ground when negotiating the 600 Metre turn.

Horse No 10 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) A Atzeni Near the 150 Metres was bumped by SPICY GOLD which shifted out under pressure.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 PRESTIGE SUPERIOR (K383) M L Yeung Over-raced in the middle stages and was checked off the heels of PERFECT GENERAL near the 700 Metres.

GENERAL:

After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Races 1 and 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

Whip Rule Offences - 8 February 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting The following jockey was found to be in breach of Rule 100(3)(ii)(a) for using the whip on consecutive occasions:- Race 10 (423) K Teetan (DREAMING TOGETHER) - 2 consecutive strides near the 250 Metres - Severe Reprimand Race 1 (414) M L Yeung (THE WAY WE WIN) was warned for using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner on one occasion near the 250 Metres.

C L Chau (JOLLY JUMPER) was severely reprimanded in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on three occasions between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres.

Race 9 (422) A Atzeni (MUST GO) was reprimanded in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 200 Metres.

Race 11 (424) D B McMonagle (KARMA) was warned in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 200 Metres.
