Race Two : (426) - SHUNG LING HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 ISLAND BREEZES (J479) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 NEBRASKAN (J304) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 THOUSAND CUPS (J482) M Guyon Shifted out near the 200 Metres and bumped RACINGRACE.
Horse No 4 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
K C Leung reported that his instructions were to obtain a position with cover in the early stages as his mount had not been finishing its races off in recent starts when leading.
Horse No 5 EXCEED THE WISH (J480) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 6 RACINGRACE (J102) J Orman Near the 200 Metres got unbalanced after being bumped by THOUSAND CUPS which was shifting out to improve.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 BRILLIANT FIRE (J441) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover from the 700 Metres.
A Atzeni explained that even though his mount was caught wide he was still of the opinion the performance was disappointing.

Horse No 8 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 TAIHANG SCENERY (J314) E C W Wong Over-raced in the middle stages.
Passing the 400 Metres raced awkwardly close to the heels of BRILLIANT FIRE and on the Home Turn was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for clear running between BRILLIANT FIRE and EXCEED THE WISH (L Hewitson) which shifted out.
In assessing the incident the Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of TAIHANG SCENERY was the main contributor to the incident, however, L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Passing the 300 Metres lay in and bumped the hindquarters of MODEST GENTLEMAN.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No SILVER KING (H420) M Chadwick SILVER KING, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 10.2.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front tendon injury).

Macanese Master worked overtime from gate seven to lead 600m out and drew clear in the straight run for a second win from his past three starts. He'll remain in the grade and can win again. Taihang Scenery finished nicely near the inside to snatch second after making his run one off travelling behind midfield from gate 10. It was a solid effort on his season debut following a ligament injury. He was able to build on a fourth last start on dirt. Modest Gentleman lost second late after running into the quinella spot 200m out following a patient ride fourth last. It was another honest performance over the Valley 1,000m. Favourite Nebraskan kept on one paced to finish a non-threatening fourth after chasing the winner on the fence. It was another costly performance at his first start over the Valley 1,000m. Punted late Spicy Spangle only plodded when asked for more in the home straight after sitting third in the run from gate three. Island Breezes was motoring late down the outside to finish next best after making his run third last from gate 11. He's racing well without winning in this grade.
