Recap by phillip woo

Run Run Timing cleared to lead from gate six and kept up a strong gallop for a second win from 29 starts. He appreciated the return to the Valley 1,650m after filling the frame in four of five other starts this term. Telecom Power stayed on nicely to just take second after a box-seat run. He's run well to place in back-to-back runs following a switch to the Valley 1,650m. Well-backed Dragon Sunrise finished nicely to just miss second after switching off heels for a clear run 150m out following a patient ride second last from gate 11. It was his best run to date. Podium ran on steadily with one wider out for fourth without threatening the first three after positioning nicely one off with cover from midfield. Smiling Emperor producing a grinding effort after a rails run from better than midfield. It was his best effort. Conspiracy Witness ran on late near the inside to finish next best ridden for luck at the back from gate 12. It was an OK effort. Bling Bling Genius finished well back after finding nothing under pressure coming to the final bend following a prominent run. It was an out-of-character effort at his first start over the Valley 1,650m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (425) - NG FONG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 BLING BLING GENIUS (J397) Z Purton Z Purton could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance and added that BLING BLING GENIUS was under pressure 600 Metres from the winning post.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of BLING BLING GENIUS was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, BLING BLING GENIUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 CONSPIRACY WITNESS (J541) D B McMonagle From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 3 CARRYON SMILING (J392) J Orman Had its left hind plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

R Kingscote was reprimanded for failing to leave sufficient racing room for runners to his inside.

Horse No 6 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) L Ferraris Slow to begin.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was bumped on the hindquarters by PERFECT PEACH.

Horse No 7 PERFECT PEACH (E488) K Teetan B Avdulla (MEEPMEEP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CARRYON SMILING, resulting in that horse being crowded in onto PERFECT PEACH which resulted in that horse being checked and making contact with the hindquarters of SMILING EMPEROR.

B Avdulla was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.

K Teetan reported that after his mount received interference approaching the winning post on the first occasion it failed to travel at any stage after that.

Horse No 8 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) R Kingscote Sent for sampling post-race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 STRONGEST BOY (H027) H Bentley A short distance after the start was bumped by MEEPMEEP which shifted in.

H Bentley explained that due to the fast tempo in the early and middle stages he elected to leave the running line to a three wide position to improve as he felt that the field would come back to him given the fast tempo.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
