Recap by phillip woo

Island Buddy tracked the speed outside Northern Fire Ball before leading near the 100m and finding plenty for back-to-back wins following a move to the Brett Crawford stable. He did it despite a 10lb rise in weight and another win won't surprise. Punted late Malpensa stayed on nicely for second after a wide trip from midfield. He's heading in the right following a closing fourth last start at just his second outing. Favourite Conrad Patch stayed on well for third after a prominent run. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in both career runs. Northern Fire Ball grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate one. It was his best effort from five starts this term. Firming late in betting, Voyage Boss made ground late near the outside after turning the final bend third last from the widest draw. It was another honest performance.
