Recap by phillip woo

Beauty Waves quickly occupied a spot one off in sceond from a wide draw 1,000m out and took control 180m out for a seventh win from 30 starts. Young Champion rattled home for a neck second after a patient ride third last from a wide draw. He was able to build on a near win last start over the Sha Tin 1,200m. Brave Star ran on steadily along the inside for third after a rails run from better than midfield. He was able to back up a third last start. Regal Gem made headway late for fourth without threatening the top three after slotting one off travelling midfield from the widest draw. It was another honest effort. Son Pak Fu made ground late for fifth after a patient ride second last from gate seven. He was able to improve on a closing sixth last start. Youthful Spirits was on his tippy toes 100m out after clearing to lead 1,000m out from gate six. He's not a 1,200m horse. Favourite Storm Rider only plodded when asked for an effort after a prominent run. The big weight took its toll after back-to-back wins. Both All Out For Six and Magic Control were scratched by order of the stewards on vet advice.
