Recap by phillip woo

Straight To Glory had a dream run in the box seat before getting up in the final few strides for a second straight win following a switch to the Valley 1,200m. He should hold his own next start off a light weight in Class Three. Superb King did everything right but get the win after moving to the lead 180m out following a speed-tracking run from gate eight. He's a winner waiting to happen. Hayday gave a cheeky sight for third after leading from gate 10. He relished a return to Class Four. Punted late Gor Gor made good ground late for fourth without threatening the first three after biding his time four from the rear. It was his best run from six starts following a stable change. Early favourite Ace Power made only a mild bid with one wider out after a one-off trip from midfield. It was a disappointing effort on face value following thirds in two prior runs. Yeux De Lifeline made some ground late near the inside after making his run three from the rear. He's gone all right once across each track over 1,200m this term. The Perfect Match ran on without threatening widest out following a ground-covering run from behind midfield.

Horse No 2 SUPERB KING (K479) J Orman Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.

Horse No 3 STRAIGHT TO GLORY (K340) K C Leung Near the 1000 Metres was momentarily crowded by SUPERB KING which lay in and away from HAYDAY.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.

When questioned A Badel stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

He said TACTICAL COMMAND lay out throughout the race and in the Home Straight when placed under pressure continued to lay out.

He added whilst his preference was to improve to the inside of SWEET BRIAR near the 150 Metres, as TACTICAL COMMAND was laying out, he elected to allow it to continue to shift out to the outside of SWEET BRIAR rather than fight the horse which resulted in TACTICAL COMMAND not being able to be ridden out to the finish when positioned close to ACE POWER.

Horse No 5 THE PERFECT MATCH (J253) H Bowman Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on THE PERFECT MATCH at the request of Trainer C S Shum.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, THE PERFECT MATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
