Race Nine : (382) - ABLE FRIEND HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 INVINCIBLE SHIELD (K168) C Y Ho After the 400 Metres was briefly held up for clear running behind LADY'S CHOICE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 MUGEN (H338) K Teetan Shortly after the start was crowded between PATCH OF STARS and LADY'S CHOICE which shifted out when being corrected by its rider Apprentice E C W Wong.
Horse No 4 PATCH OF STARS (J343) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 PACKING ANGEL (J454) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.
L Hewitson stated that he was satisfied with the horse's performance as it was first up run from a long spell, and would derive a fitness benefit from today's run and would be better suited by being stepped up in distance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE (J325) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
In the middle stages raced keenly.
Approaching the 800 Metres blundered.
Horse No 9 HARMONY N BLESSED (E061) M L Yeung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Trainer D A Hayes advised that from the outside barrier he had instructed M L Yeung to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 11 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) M Chadwick Shortly after the start got its head up and became unbalanced when being steadied.
Approaching the 900 Metres again got its head up when being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind MUGEN.
Over the final 100 Metres lay in when under pressure.

Invincible Shield enjoyed the shortest route when prominent along the inside from gate one and just beat Young Champion after taking the lead 100m out. Sensationally backed Young Champion found one too good after finding the front 200m out following a wide with cover trip travelling behind midfield coming to the final bend. He's not easy to get right. Favourite Patch Of Stars stayed on a non-threatening third after turning the final bend third and one off the fence from gate five. It was another honest effort. Punted late Gustosisimo just failed to get up for third after a one-off trip from midfield. He was able to back up a fourth last start at the Valley. Swift Ascend ran on well for fifth with two wider out after a patient ride near the rear from gate 10. It was a good effort on the back of a muddling pace.
