Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (381) - THE STEWARDS' CUP - Class G1 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 ROMANTIC WARRIOR (E486) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 VOYAGE BUBBLE (E436) Z Purton Z Purton reported that his mount slipped behind on jumping and as a result jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start shifted in and was bumped.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 LUCKY SWEYNESSE (G180) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 BEAUTY JOY (E058) B Avdulla After travelling a short distance was bumped.
Horse No 5 RED LION (H115) H Bowman H Bowman stated that his mount came under pressure making the Home Turn and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
Trainer J Size advised the horse had pleased him prior to the event but could offer no explanation for the horse's performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of RED LION, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, RED LION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 6 GALAXY PATCH (H399) M Guyon Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by VOYAGE BUBBLE which after initially shifting in then raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC WARRIOR (J McDonald).
J McDonald was advised to exercise more care.
In the early and middle stages raced keenly and near the 800 Metres was checked to avoid MY WISH when that runner was steadied.
Approaching the 300 Metres lay in and proved difficult to shift to the outside of SUNLIGHT POWER.
When questioned M Guyon stated that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
He said after being positioned behind MY WISH near the 700 Metres he was obliged to check his mount when STRAIGHT ARRON and SUNLIGHT POWER improved to his outside which resulted in GALAXY PATCH being positioned close to the heels of MY WISH when it continued to race keenly.
Horse No 7 STRAIGHT ARRON (G435) D B McMonagle Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by VOYAGE BUBBLE (Z Purton) which shifted in.
Z Purton was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.
Horse No 8 MY WISH (J256) A Badel Near the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid ROMANTIC WARRIOR (J McDonald) which shifted in when not quite clear.
J McDonald was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
Passing the 350 Metres endeavoured to obtain a narrow run between SUNLIGHT POWER and VOYAGE BUBBLE.
When VOYAGE BUBBLE then shifted out slightly MY WISH made contact with SUNLIGHT POWER approaching the 250 Metres and as a result had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres.
Horse No 9 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) C Y Ho Noted to have a small abrasion in the left nostril prior to the race, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Raced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
Bumped near the 250 Metres.

Romantic Warrior had a prominent run wide without cover until improving to sit one off in second 800m out, before moving to the lead 350m out and was much too good. The eight-year-old's now won 21 of 28 starts with 12 wins at Group One level. Lucky Sweynesse kept on gamely for second after forward three wide to eventually find the lead on the fence 950m out. It was a fine effort by the former champion sprinter at his first run over 1,600m. Voyage Bubble plugged on to just hold third after getting left wide without cover from better than 800m out. He didn't enjoy the best of runs. My Wish stayed on to dead-heat for fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. He's a touch below the best milers. Sunlight Power sustained his bid from near the rear and down the outside to share fourth prize money. Beauty Joy produced a grinding effort after a rails run from behind midfield. Galaxy Patch came from last to finish next best.
