Debutant Hot Delight travelled wide with cover behind midfield form gate 14 before hitting the lead 150m out and proving too smart on debut. He did it in a very good time and the future does look bright. Conrad Patch stayed on nicely for second after a prominent run one off the fence. Like the winner, it was a smart debut performance. Well backed Solid Car ran on nicely for third after making his run five back and one off the fence. He can bob up at any moment after placings in back-to-back runs in this grade. Malpensa caught the eye when running on for fourth after straightening third last following a slow start. It was a much-improved effort at his second start. Riding High found a few too good after moving to the lead 250m out following a speed-tracking run outside Lean Master. It was a positive effort up in grade following a win.

Race Five : (358) - CYCLING 1200M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 DAILY TROPHY (H283) E C W Wong Near the 850 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SOLID CAR.

Lay out on the Home Turn.

Horse No 2 SOLID CAR (K058) K Teetan Near the 850 Metres was steadied to avoid VIVA FIRECRACKER which shifted out when being steadied.

Horse No 3 CLOUD NINE (L050) L Ferraris Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

When questioned L Ferraris stated that leaving the 300 Metres he endeavoured to improve into a tight run between RIDING HIGH (L Hewitson) and CONRAD PATCH.

He said when CLOUD NINE did not quicken and RIDING HIGH then shifted out, he was obliged to check his mount when disappointed for this run which resulted in CLOUD NINE shifting in and making heavy contact with LEAN MASTER.

After considering the evidence the Stewards advised L Hewitson that in similar circumstances he should exercise more care and stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground.

Horse No 4 CONRAD PATCH (L106) C L Chau Leaving the 300 Metres was bumped by CLOUD NINE.

Horse No 5 EXTRAORDINARY GALL (K561) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 6 HOT DELIGHT (K583) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 7 MALPENSA (K545) J Orman On jumping made contact with the right side of its starting gate and lost ground.

Near the 900 Metres got its head up and became unbalanced when being steadied.

Horse No 9 FLYING CHRISTIE (K483) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 LEAN MASTER (H134) H Bentley Near the 200 Metres became unbalanced when bumped heavily by CLOUD NINE which shifted in when being checked.

Horse No 11 VICTORY CHAMPION (K240) K C Leung K C Leung reported that when caught to the outside of DAILY TROPHY in the early stages he had anticipated that horse going forward.

He said when DAILY TROPHY remained racing wide he elected to come back to follow that runner to avoid covering additional ground.

He added in the Home Straight his mount responded reasonably well to his riding.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 VIVA FIRECRACKER (L065) M Chadwick Near the 850 Metres shifted in towards MASTER OF HUMOR and as a result was steadied to avoid that runner.

Horse No 13 MASTER OF HUMOR (K281) M L Yeung On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by CLOUD NINE which shifted in.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood in the right nostril.

An endoscopic examination conducted on MASTER OF HUMOR found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the blood in the nostril was determined to be not coming from the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled.
