Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (346) - YUMMY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 FORTUNATE SON (J446) H Bowman Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Making the Home Turn was bumped by ALL ROUND WINNER when that runner shifted out to improve.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 ALL ROUND WINNER (K382) H Bentley Bumped making the Home Turn.
Horse No 3 SURE JOYFUL (G125) M Guyon Briefly held up making the Home Turn when being shifted to the inside of INNO SUPER to obtain clear running.
For some distance near the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind SETANTA.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to PING HAI COMET.
M Guyon stated that from the outside barrier his instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the wide draw.
Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 4 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) C Y Ho From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 ABSOLUTE AWAKENED (K039) Z Purton Z Purton stated that the instructions were to settle in a midfield position.
He said when caught wide in the early stages and when he was of the opinion there was no opportunity to obtain cover he elected to allow ABSOLUTE AWAKENED to stride forward and race outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground.
Trainer F C Lor confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 7 SOMELOVEFROMABOVE (J503) M Chadwick In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1100 Metres was steadied away from ABSOLUTE AWAKENED.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 INNO SUPER (K319) C L Chau Bumped at the start.
Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 PRINCE ALEX (G307) R Kingscote Bumped on jumping.
Over the final 200 Metres could not be fully tested when positioned close to ABSOLUTE AWAKENED.
Horse No 11 MANAGEMENT FOLKS (E496) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by FORTUNATE SON which shifted out.
Horse No 12 LUCKY BLESSING (K073) Y L Chung Bumped on jumping.

Backed late to start favourite, Fortunate Son travelled one off behind midfield and charged down the centre of the track to take control just before the 100m to make it two wins from 20 local starts. He backed up well from an unlucky defeat seven days earlier. Inno Super sprinted powerfully from near last down the outside to grab second. It was an encouraging Valley debut. Setanta settled just behind midfield on the fence and ran on strongly to finish third. He backed up a last-start second and can win again soon. Ping Hai Comet sat in the box seat from the inside gate, hit the front at the 200m and kept on well for fourth. He is close to another win. Absolute Awakened went forward from a wide draw to track the speed and plugged on fairly in the straight to finish next best. He couldn't back up an impressive last-start victory. Sure Joyful went back to second last from gate 12 and made late ground when switched to the inside to run seventh. Heavily backed Lucky Blessing found the front but faded in the straight to finish eighth.
