Recap by phillip woo

Rank outsider Young Emperor travelled second last and wove a run near the inside after getting held up early in the straight to just get the nose down late to deny Chill Buddy for a second win from seven starts. Well-backed Chill Buddy just missed after clearing to lead 1,000m out from gate 12. He was able to build on two encouraging runs over the straight 1,000m. Celestial Hero ran on well for third after straightening four deep travelling third last from gate seven. He's shown natural improvement on his three starts this term. Brown-lamped late Armour War Eagle came on late down the outside for fourth after biding his time three from the rear. He'll be a force to be reckoned with if he finds his way into Class Four. Aurora Patch stayed on all right for fifth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He was carrying 7lb more following a win.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (340) - HUNG MUI KUK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 CELESTIAL HERO (K363) H Bowman Bumped shortly after the start.

Held up for clear running between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres when improving into a tight run between MATTERS MOST and ALPHA STRIKE.

Horse No 3 PAKISTAN LEGACY (J363) J Orman Bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 5 ALPHA STRIKE (L019) C Y Ho C Y Ho could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SZERYNG (K317) Z Purton Near the 200 Metres was eased down from the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

Before being allowed to race again, SZERYNG will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 YOUNG EMPEROR (K011) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up for clear running.

Near the 50 Metres was directed to the outside of CHILL BUDDY to continue into clear running.

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer D Eustace stated that the horse had returned from surgery to its left knee this season and had taken some time to develop its fitness.

He said he had persevered in racing the horse at Happy Valley as YOUNG EMPEROR had won at that course previously but at its last start over 1650 Metres was disadvantaged when racing wide and without cover and as a result did not run out the distance of that race.

He added today YOUNG EMPEROR was advantaged by being freshened up since its last start and also seemed to appreciate racing on the Sha Tin track at its first start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 PRESTIGE ALWAYS (J300) L Hewitson Over the final 50 Metres could not be ridden out when held up between ARMOUR WAR EAGLE and AURORA PATCH.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 9 CHILL BUDDY (K469) K Teetan K Teetan stated that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position preferably with cover.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow CHILL BUDDY to stride forward and lead when there was no opportunity to obtain cover.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 WIN EASE (K384) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 12 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) A Atzeni Near the 450 Metres was steadied away from PRESTIGE ALWAYS.
