Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (332) - CONNAUGHT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 TRIUMPHANT MORE (J489) C L Chau C L Chau stated that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position.
He said when TRIUMPHANT MORE did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to comply with those instructions he then elected to steady his mount to obtain cover behind CHARMING BABE to avoid racing wide and without cover, which resulted in his mount racing ungenerously for some distance near the 900 Metres.
He added in the Home Straight TRIUMPHANT MORE finished the race off fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SPICY GOLD (H440) A Badel A Badel stated that he was obliged to make some use of the horse in the early stages to take up a position with cover behind the leaders.
He said in the Home Straight SPICY GOLD did not respond strongly to his riding and raced in a disappointing manner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 LEAPING STAR (L189) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 6 CHARMING BABE (J513) K Teetan Shortly after the start raced ungenerously when being steadied to attempt to obtain cover.
When unable to obtain cover CHARMING BABE raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 PRESTIGE SUPERIOR (K383) M L Yeung Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with PERFECT GENERAL.
Horse No 8 FORZA LEADER (L034) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 9 REFUSETOBEENGLISH (K362) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and then made contact with PERFECT GENERAL due to both runners shifting ground.
Horse No 10 PERFECT GENERAL (J417) C Y Ho On jumping made contact with REFUSETOBEENGLISH due to both runners shifting ground.
After travelling a short distance became unbalanced when it made contact with PRESTIGE SUPERIOR which shifted in slightly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) M Chadwick Briefly held up for clear running making the Home Turn before shifting to the outside of SPICY GOLD entering the Home Straight.
Near the 150 Metres M Chadwick dropped his whip.
Horse No 12 MY DAY MY WAY (J519) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Favourite Perfect General dictated the run from gate two and kept finding for a second win and first in this grade from three starts this term. Well backed My Day My Way found one just too good after a speed-tracking run from gate five. It was a much better effort at his second start this season. Refusetobeenglish stayed on well to finish a close third after a prominent run on the fence. He appreciated a return to the course and distance of a pleasing fourth two runs ago. Spirit Of Peace finished nicely through the middle for fourth after a handy run along the inside. He will be hard to beat if he can find his way into Class Four. Storming Dragon made good ground late for fifth after making his run at the rear from gate 10. It was a good run. Wings Of War made ground late near the inside after biding his time four from the rear. He rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,200m. Forza Leader ran on without threatening after making his run second last following a slow start from gate 12. It was a better effort with a switch to the Valley. Spicy Gold disappointed after getting all favours after a one-out, one-back run.
