Punted late Jolly Companion travelled better than midfield from gate five and just reeled in Superb Boy in the final few strides for a third win from 31 starts and first on turf. It was clearly his best effort from seven Valley 1,200m runs. Whacked to jump favourite Superb Boy did everything right but get the win after leading 120m out following a handy run wide and without cover from gate two. He's a well-rated horse. Early favourite Ace Power ran on nicely near the inside for third after a rails run from behind midfield. He proved a placing at $20 last start was not a fluke. Well backed late Ka Ying Resilience grudgingly gave way after clearing to lead from gate 12. He's close to stealing a race. Savvy Twinkle stayed on well for fifth after over-racing travelling wide with cover for most of the trip in midfield. He will be a major player shortly in Class Five. Fatal Blow ran on without threatening down the outside after a wide trip travelling third last from gate 10. He's one to keep an eye on when he does draw a proper gate. Mega Bonus weakened after a speed-tracking run from gate three.

Race Four : (328) - JACKSON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 FATAL BLOW (J484) L Ferraris Trainer M Newnham advised that from an outside barrier he had instructed for the horse to be ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Horse No 2 FORTUNE WHISKEY (J153) M F Poon Held up making the Home Turn.

M F Poon reported that his mount was fractious in the gates, jumped only fairly and as a result settled back in the field.

Horse No 3 GREAT STATE (J124) M L Yeung Near the 450 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SAVVY TWINKLE which shifted out when racing keenly.

Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 SUPERB BOY (G335) M Guyon After being crossed by MEGA BONUS near the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and making the first turn shifted out when being checked to avoid MEGA BONUS.

Near the 700 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by JOLLY COMPANION which shifted out slightly.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 FORTUNE SUPERNOVA (K287) R Kingscote Shifted in at the start, made contact with CAP LINER and became unbalanced.

Horse No 7 ACE POWER (J181) Z Purton Bumped at the start.

Near the 1100 Metres shifted in and bumped JOLLY COMPANION.

Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 8 CAP LINER (L012) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.

In the middle stages raced keenly and after being crossed by SAVVY TWINKLE near the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid that runner.

Horse No 10 CRYSTAL POWERFUL (H068) A Atzeni A Atzeni stated that from the inside barrier his mount jumped only fairly and as a result he had to make some use of it in the early stages to hold an on-pace position.

He said as a consequence in the Home Straight his mount was left without a finishing effort.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood in the mouth.

Horse No 11 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.

Near the 1100 Metres was bumped by ACE POWER which shifted in.

Near the 700 Metres shifted out slightly and made contact with SUPERB BOY.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 SAVVY TWINKLE (K067) A Badel Making the first turn was hampered when taken wider by SUPERB BOY.

As a result SAVVY TWINKLE then commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being shifted behind SUPERB BOY to obtain cover.

After obtaining cover behind SUPERB BOY, SAVVY TWINKLE, which continued to race keenly, again got its head up when being checked to avoid SUPERB BOY near the 650 Metres.

Shifted out near the 450 Metres and made contact with GREAT STATE.
