Recap by phillip woo

Outsider Celtic Times ran on from fourth last through the centre to just get the better of favourite Ace War for a fourth win from 41 starts. Ace War ran on nicely along the inside for second after having the stopping Zhou Gongjin fall back on his lap upon straightening following a patient ride two from from the rear. He's a winner waiting to happen. Prestige Ricky ran on nicely down the outside for third after making his run at the rear from gate nine. He's not far off a winning run. Golden Brilliant just got the head down for fourth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He was able to back up a fourth last start over the Valley 1,200m despite a rise in trip. The Azure ran on steadily to just miss the frame after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Aeroinvincible whacked on one paced after a wide trip travelling midfield from gate 10. He had an excuse. Punted late Fortunate Son ran on without threatening settling near the rear from gate 11. Ka Ying Glory finished well back after travelling erratically and drifting out 850m out following a prominent run.

Race Three : (327) - CLUB HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 FORTUNATE SON (J446) C Y Ho Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running.

Again for a short distance near the 100 Metres was held up behind THE AZURE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 THE AZURE (J227) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 3 AEROINVINCIBLE (J180) M Guyon Near the 1400 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied to avoid KA YING GLORY (K Teetan) which shifted in when not quite clear.

K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.

Continued to race keenly in the middle stages.

Horse No 4 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 5 WAVE GARDEN (K209) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly.

R Kingscote stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position with his mount stepping up in distance.

Horse No 6 KA YING GLORY (K247) K Teetan K Teetan stated that his mount hung out badly throughout the event and as a result he was unable to ride the horse in a competitive manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

The racing manners and performance of KA YING GLORY, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, KA YING GLORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 7 MATSU VICTOR (H472) M L Yeung M L Yeung could offer no real excuse for the performance other than the horse did not appear to be comfortable racing in amongst other horses.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 CELTIC TIMES (G230) C L Chau Near the 1400 Metres was eased to avoid AEROINVINCIBLE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 ICONICAL (J504) A Atzeni A Atzeni stated that he was under the instructions to ensure that he led the event.

He said as a result ICONICAL set a pace inside of standard time throughout the early stages and was left with a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions were to show intent to lead the event but, in his opinion, the pace of the early stages was too quick.

He added that ICONICAL was also disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by WAVE GARDEN.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
