Race Five : (318) - BROADWOOD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) H Bowman Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind ABSOLUTE HONOUR.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 GALLANT EPOCH (J451) M Guyon Passing the 250 Metres rider M Guyon dropped his whip.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 WORLD HERO (J413) L Hewitson L Hewitson stated that after obtaining a position outside the lead, when he placed the horse under pressure in the Home Straight it gave ground noticeably.
He added when he was concerned there was something amiss he desisted from riding his mount out over the final 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of WORLD HERO was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, WORLD HERO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 6 LUCKY FIELD (K292) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 SMILING FALCON (K459) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 8 LUCKY MAN (J315) B Avdulla B Avdulla reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 MAZING GRACE (K166) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly and then was bumped at the start.
Horse No 10 ONE LOVE (K584) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly and then was bumped at the start.
Horse No 11 GOOD CHAP (J499) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its starting gate and lost ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No JOLLY BRILLIANT (K498) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 2.1.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter WORLD HERO.
Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY BRILLIANT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Gallant Epoch controlled things from the front and kicked well from gate seven for a second win over 1,400m from 15 starts. The writing had been on the wall with placings twice over 1,400m from his opening three starts this term. Monarch County ran on nicely for second after coming off heels for a clear run 300m out following a rails run from midfield. It was a return to form after a downgrade. Absolute Honour plugged on gamely for third after a handy run on the fence. It was his best effort from 14 local starts. City Thunder ran on steadily for fourth without ever looking a place chance following a midfield trip. He's naturally returning to form in his two outings this term. Smiling Falcon ran on late down the outside to finish a non-threatening fifth after a wide trip travelling three from the rear. He's run well in past two of three 1,400m runs this term.
