Bright Mortar came came with a perfectly timed run through the centre to just touch off One Man Show on the wire after making his run second last from gate two. One Man Show did everything right but get the win after leading 200m out following a box seat run. He lived up a to a solid trial win on the dirt. So My Folks just got the head down for third after a prominent run. He was trying the dirt for the first time but had run okay on debut from two earlier starts over the straight 1,000m. Punted late Vulcanus surged late to just miss a placing after making his run three from the rear. It was another honest performance on this surface despite carrying top weight. No Other Choice just missed a top four spot after a one-off trip from midfield. Swagger Bro made good ground late near the outside for fifth after making his run two from the rear

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (316) - TAI MONG TSAI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 VULCANUS (J150) H Bowman On jumping was hampered when taken wider by SO MY FOLKS.

Approaching the 300 Metres shifted out and bumped GOKO WIN.

Horse No 2 ONE MAN SHOW (K409) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 GOKO WIN (H069) L Hewitson Approaching the 300 Metres was bumped by VULCANUS.

L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to endeavour to find a position with cover.

He said in the early stages he rode his mount forward to attempt to comply with his instructions but when unable to cross runners to his inside he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 FRANCIS MEYNELL (J394) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 MY TRIUMPH (K558) K Teetan Leaving the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SWAGGER BRO and GOKO WIN (L Hewitson) which shifted out after being bumped slightly by VULCANUS.

L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 6 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Ferraris L Ferraris stated that instructions were to lead the event.

He said when his mount jumped only fairly it did not show sufficient pace to cross LEAN MASTER and as a result he was obliged to hold a position outside of that runner.

He added in the Home Straight NOTTHESILLYONE did not respond to his riding and, in his opinion, races better when able to dictate in the lead.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued and concurred with the views of Jockey Ferraris that the horse is best suited when racing in front.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of NOTTHESILLYONE, a last start winner, was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, NOTTHESILLYONE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 SO MY FOLKS (K456) D B McMonagle Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 10 BRIGHT MORTAR (K333) Y L Chung Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 CIRRUS SPEED (K279) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then was checked when crowded between MY TRIUMPH and VULCANUS which was taken out by SO MY FOLKS.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 NO OTHER CHOICE (K049) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.

In the Home Straight lay out and proved difficult to ride.

Horse No NEW POWER (H325) A Badel NEW POWER, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 3.1.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front ligament injury).

Before being allowed to race again, NEW POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
