Racing Incident Report
Race One : (314) - TAI LAM HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 RATTAN GALAXY (K143) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) H Bowman Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 3 TELECOM POWER (J332) H Bentley Bumped at the start.
Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres.
Horse No 4 ONE AND ONLY (K273) B Avdulla A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 REWARDING TWINKLE (J368) K C Leung Raced keenly in the middle stages.
Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind SMART ENGINEER.
When SMART ENGINEER shifted out near the 300 Metres, REWARDING TWINKLE shifted to that runner's inside to obtain clear running.
Horse No 6 WISEMAN (K211) D B McMonagle Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 7 GALE SAGA (J152) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 GOOD PROSPECT (J406) L Ferraris L Ferraris stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position.
He said the horse jumped only fairly and did not travel well throughout the early stages and as a consequence GOOD PROSPECT settled back in the field.
He added in the Home Straight GOOD PROSPECT finished the race off only fairly and it was noted to have its tongue over the bit after the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 VON BAER (K198) C L Chau A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, VON BAER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 SUPER PACE (K349) D Probert Bumped at the start.
Horse No 11 SMART ENGINEER (K244) R Kingscote R Kingscote stated that he was given the option of taking up a more forward position from a wide barrier as the horse had not been performing well when ridden back in the field.
He said when SMART ENGINEER jumped well he elected to go forward on the horse in accordance with his instructions.
Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 12 SOMETHING JONAH (K024) J Orman Near the 1000 Metres raced tight between REWARDING TWINKLE and SUPER PACE.
Horse No 13 CASA LEGEND (G126) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 14 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) M Guyon After being crossed by SUPER PACE near the 1000 Metres raced keenly for some distance thereafter.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.

The Concentration was wide without cover behind midfield but quickened nicely with two wider out to take control 50m out for a third win from 30 starts. Punted late Gale Saga ran on nicely near the outside for second after biding his time two from the rear. He was able to build on a troubled 10th last start. Sterling Wongchoy succumbed late after emerging the leader from gate six. It was another honest performance despite a return to Sha Tin. Rewarding Twinkle ran on steadily for fourth after a rails run from midfield. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Favourite Rattan Galaxy made only a mild bid for fifth without threatening the top four after a one-off trip from better than midfield. The big weight anchored him on this occasion.
