Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (310) - THE CHINESE CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 2 PATCH OF THETA (H485) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 3 PACKING HERMOD (J277) M Guyon Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Near the 450 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed between STORM RIDER and CAPITAL DELIGHT which shifted out slightly.
M Guyon reported that entering the Home Straight he was following the winner STORM RIDER but when that runner quickened leaving the 400 Metres his mount responded only fairly to his riding.
When questioned M Guyon stated that in the middle stages his mount commenced to race keenly and leaving the 700 Metres improved to the inside of STORM RIDER and as a result he was obliged to check his mount to avoid that runner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, PACKING HERMOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 LIGHT YEARS CHARM (K130) Z Purton Z Purton stated that his mount finished the race off satisfactorily when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 BEAUTY ETERNAL (H008) B Avdulla Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 6 JOHANNES BRAHMS (K014) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 7 AERIS NOVA (J534) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the right side of its starting gate.
Horse No 8 CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.
Near the 700 Metres was momentarily crowded by PACKING HERMOD.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 DANCING CODE (G365) A Badel When questioned A Badel stated that his instructions were to go forward and lead.
He said in the early stages when positioned wide to the outside of SKY TRUST and GUSTOSISIMO he had to make some use of his mount near the 1000 Metres to go forward and cross those runners to avoid covering additional ground and to comply with his instructions.
Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued.

Horse No 11 STORM RIDER (J027) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Storm Rider had a one-off trip from midfield and got up in the last stride to deny Dancing Code for a fifth win and second over the 1,400m trip from 26 starts. He appreciated the light weight with a step up to 1,400m after a win two runs ago in a lesser grade over the Valley 1,200m. Dancing Code nearly stole the race after rushing to the lead 1,000m out from the widest draw. He's given a good sight to place in half of his 16 starts over 1,400m. Patch Of Theta ran on well down the outside for third after making his run at the rear from gate 11. It was another good performance over 1,400m. Heavily backed Sky Trust stayed on for fourth after sitting one off in third. It wasn't a bad effort up in grade after a 1,200m win. Tomodachi Kokoroe just held his ground for fifth after a prominent run along the inside. It was an OK effort carrying top weight with a step up to 1,400m.
