Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (239) - KIMBERLEY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 FUN TOGETHER (H041) C L Chau Despite being ridden along in the early stages did now show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 2 WITH A SMILE (K136) Z Purton Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid BETTER AND BETTER.
Near the 400 Metres blundered when being briefly held up behind BETTER AND BETTER.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 FIT FOR BEAUTY (K489) J McDonald Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Shortly afterwards was then hampered when crowded by STAR ELEGANCE which was taken in by RELIABLE DAD.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 FLYING TING LOK (K228) M F Poon M F Poon reported that over the concluding stages he became concerned with the horse's action and as a result he eased it down.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of FLYING TING LOK was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, FLYING TING LOK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 5 STAR GLOW (J429) R Kingscote Shifted out at the start and lost ground.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 6 RELIABLE DAD (L006) H Bowman Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 7 STAR ELEGANCE (K536) J Orman Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.
Horse No 8 WINNING DATA (H230) E C W Wong Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 9 CALIFORNIA BANNER (J132) M Chadwick Leaving the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid FLYING TING LOK.
Horse No 10 LAHORE (K043) L Ferraris L Ferraris reported that his mount hung out under pressure in the Home Straight when it was giving ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted in and made contact with WINNING DATA.
Horse No 12 POSITIVE SMILE (J467) M L Yeung M L Yeung reported that the intention was to hold a forward position.
He said when POSITIVE SMILE jumped only fairly it settled further back in the field than instructed.
Horse No 13 WIN SPEED (J205) L Hewitson On jumping made contact with the left side of its starting gate and lost ground.
L Hewitson stated that whilst he was given the option of riding the horse in a more conservative manner today, when it jumped awkwardly, he was obliged to settle in a midfield position.
He added in the Home Straight his mount did not run on and had recommended for the reapplication of blinkers for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Punted late With A Smile had a one-off trip from midfield and was too good after hitting the lead 150m out for a second win from seven starts. Fit For Beauty ran on nicely through the centre for second after making his run behind midfield on the fence following a sluggish start. It was another good run. Positive Smile just got up to snatch third after biding his time at the rear from gate 13. He keeps promising without delivering on a win line. Better And Better lost a placing late after leading 300m out after sitting second outside Top To Sky 750m out. It was another honest performance. Reliable Dad was doing his best work late to overhaul Winning Data for fifth without threatening the top four after a patient ride from gate nine. It was a much-improved effort with a switch to Sha Tin after showing little on debut over the Valley 1,200m. Winning Data stayed on next best after a rails run from midfield. Top To Sky was on his tippy toes 150m out.
