Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (232) - TAI TAM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 LUNAR DASH (K334) Z Purton Z Purton stated that near the 150 Metres his mount became unbalanced when it shifted out and away from CALIFORNIA BLITZ.
He added that LUNAR DASH then continued to shift out over the final 100 Metres and near the 50 Metres made contact with JUICY DRAGON as he corrected his mount.
Trainer M Newnham stated that LUNAR DASH may not have been suited by being ridden in a forward position tonight and at its next start he will instruct the rider to ride the horse in a more conservative manner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 ACE POWER (J181) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 4 I AM BACK (L061) D Probert From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 5 WORD OF KINDNESS (K569) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.
When commencing to finish the race off well approaching the 50 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA BLITZ to continue into clear running.
Horse No 6 CALIFORNIA BLITZ (J370) M Chadwick On jumping became unbalanced when crowded between ONE LOVE and JUICY DRAGON, both of which shifted ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 ONE LOVE (K584) H Bowman On jumping shifted out and made contact with CALIFORNIA BLITZ.
A short distance ONE LOVE shifted in and made contact with KNOW AT HEART.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 SUPER UNIVERSAL (K303) C Y Ho A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, SUPER UNIVERSAL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 9 JUICY DRAGON (K405) M Guyon Shifted in at the start, was bumped and became unbalanced.
Near the 50 Metres became unbalanced when it was crowded between ACE POWER and LUNAR DASH which shifted out.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 10 CIRCUIT DUFFY (J501) K C Leung On jumping shifted in and made contact with SUPER UNIVERSAL.
A short distance later CIRCUIT DUFFY shifted out and became unbalanced when it made contact with KNOW AT HEART.
Horse No 11 KNOW AT HEART (K108) H Doyle Shortly after the start was bumped by CIRCUIT DUFFY, became unbalanced, shifted out and made contact with ONE LOVE which shifted in.
After being shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIA BLITZ near the 250 Metres then lay in for some distance thereafter.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 VON BAER (K198) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the middle stages raced keenly when awkwardly positioned between I AM BACK and ACE POWER.

Post-time favourite California Blitz put his head clearly in front 700m out following a battle for the front with early favourite Lunar Dash and just held off Know At Heart late for a first win at his 11th start. He had been knocking on the door. Know At Heart made it close on the wire after a prominent run one off the fence. He's close to a rating bottom. Ace Power made good ground late down the outside for third after biding his time third last from gate 10. He's not easy to get right. Outsider Word Of Kindness ran on well for fourth after a rails run from behind midfield. It was an improved performance with a switch to the Valley after failing to menace on debut last month at Sha Tin. Juicy Dragon wasn't beaten far in the end after chasing the speed three wide without cover from gate eight. It was his best effort from five starts. Master Phoenix ran on steadily to just earn a minor cheque after a rails run from midfield. It was an improved effort at his second go over the Valley 1,200m. Early favourite Lunar Dash succumbed late after prompting the pace from gate nine. The big weight took its toll.
