Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Ninja Derby was perfectly rated in front from gate nine for a second win and two thirds from four starts for his new trainer this season. He will now return to Class Four on the top of his game. Storm Runner ran on well for second without threatening the winner after finding a spot eventually one off travelling behind midfield from gate 12. He's racing well without winning. Super Sicario kept plugging away for third after tracking the pace one off from gate 10. He's holding his condition well to fill the frame in three of five starts. Wah May Wai Wai just missed out on a placing after a box-seat run. It was another honest performance. Star Brose came from near last and with one wider out for fifth without threatening the top four runners. He has the tools to find a win shortly in this grade. Gold Tack only held his ground when asked for an effort after a rails run from better than midfield. Cool Blue couldn't sustain his bid after taking off very wide 550m out from the rear of field from gate eight. He had an excuse. Fury And Gold only plodded after a rails run travelling worse than midfield.

A short distance later PERPETUAL POWER (M Guyon) shifted back in, resulting in STORM RUNNER making slight contact with GOLD TACK and STORM RUNNER then being turned in due to the contact, resulting in GOLD TACK having to be steadied when crowded.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.
