Race Two : (228) - SHEK LEI PUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Meters
Horse No 1 NEARLY FINE (E430) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SHARPEN BRIGHT (H276) B Avdulla Near the 250 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by DOUBLE WIN.
Horse No 3 PACKING HURRICANE (H137) H Bentley Near the 500 Metres was steadied when crowded between MISSION STRIKE which shifted out slightly and MANAGEMENT FOLKS which was racing tight to the inside of VIVA TASTE which shifted in as it was giving ground.
Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
H Bentley advised that he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages from the outside barrier.
Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions and said such instructions were issued to offset the outside barrier.
Horse No 4 SERANGOON (H296) Z Purton Bumped on jumping.
Z Purton reported that in the Home Straight his mount finished the race off in a one-paced manner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 MEGA FORCE (K200) L Ferraris L Ferraris reported that his mount lay in throughout the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a mild abrasion to the left hind leg.
Horse No 7 VIVA TASTE (K415) M Guyon Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.
Horse No 8 DOUBLE WIN (H382) H Doyle Near the 300 Metres lay in towards KINGLY DEMEANOR.
When being corrected to avoid KINGLY DEMEANOR, DOUBLE WIN shifted out and made contact with SHARPEN BRIGHT approaching the 250 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 MANAGEMENT FOLKS (E496) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
Crowded near the 500 Metres.
Horse No 10 MISSION STRIKE (J377) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MISSION STRIKE at the request of Trainer M Newnham.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, MISSION STRIKE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 11 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
After being held up for clear running on the Home Turn was then steadied and shifted to the inside of DOUBLE WIN approaching the 300 Metres to obtain clear running.
Between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of KINGLY DEMEANOR.
Horse No 12 DASHING DRAGON (J464) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Double Win capitalised on a box-seat run to just get the better of Nearly Fine 50m out for a second straight win from 19 starts. He handled a rise in trip with aplomb after a Valley 2,000m success last month. Nearly Fine was just touched off late after racing to the front near the outside 100m out after a patient ride fourth last from gate 11. He is a well-rated runner and does like the 2,200m. From gate 12, Packing Hurricane came from last to snatch third. It was his best effort with a return to the Valley after failing to click in his opening three Sha Tin runs this term. Sharpen Bright found a few too good after briefly leading 150m out following a prominent run one off the fence. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over 2,200m. Management Folks ran on late to just miss fifth prize money after making his run one from the rear. Perfect Pairing had his chance but came up a one-paced fifth after a handy run on the fence. He's awaiting a return to Class Five. Favourite Serangoon only plodded when asked for an effort after a one-off trip from midfield. He couldn't back up a near win last month over 2,000m.
