Well backed Colourful King zipped across the field at the start from gate two to sit on the grandstand side, before storming home from last at the 300m to win going away 60m out for a third win from nine starts and first from two outings over the straight 1,000m. Crimson Flash found one just too good after surging to the lead 200m out chasing the speed from gate four. It was another good run in a higher grade following a win. Baby Crystal kept on gamely to just win a battle for third after a pace-prompting tun from gate nine. He was able to back up a placing last start after changing stables. We Are Hero ran on well on the far side to just miss a placing after biding his time one from the rear. It was a good performance up in grade off a light weight. Chateauneuf stayed on well for fifth travelling midfield and three off the stands side from gate 11. He's gone OK in both career runs over the straight 1,000m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (224) - CLASS 2 1000M TURF HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 INVINCIBLE SAGE (H301) H Bowman H Bowman stated that his mount had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance after the 250 Metres and finished the race off only fairly thereafter.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 MAGIC CONTROL (J333) J McDonald Bumped on jumping.

Near the 100 Metres was crowded for room between CHATEAUNEUF and YOUTHFUL SPIRITS which shifted in and away from COLOURFUL KING when giving ground.

The Stewards were satisfied that L Hewitson, rider of YOUTHFUL SPIRITS, had endeavoured to correct his mount when it commenced to shift in.

J McDonald stated that with his mount dropping back to 1000 Metres it did not travel well due to the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time.

He added that, in his view, MAGIC CONTROL may be better suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) R Kingscote Bumped on jumping.

After travelling a short distance was then eased when crowded between CHATEAUNEUF and MAGIC CONTROL.

Horse No 6 BABY CRYSTAL (H081) K De Melo Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped.

Horse No 9 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) L Hewitson Shifted in near the 100 Metres when giving ground and bumped MAGIC CONTROL.

YOUTHFUL SPIRITS then shifted out and made contact with WONDER KIT.

Horse No 13 WE ARE HERO (G207) H Doyle Lay out in the Home Straight, resulting in its rider H Doyle changing her whip to her left hand after the 100 Metres.

Horse No 14 WONDER KIT (G455) K Teetan Shortly after the start became unbalanced when it made contact with BABY CRYSTAL.

Near the 50 Metres was crowded between KAHOLO ANGEL and YOUTHFUL SPIRITS which, after making contact with MAGIC CONTROL, then shifted out when giving ground.
