Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (221) - CLASS 4 1600M TURF HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 OLDTOWN (K105) J McDonald J McDonald could offer no explanation for the horse's disappointing performance.
Trainer W Y So expressed disappointment with the performance of OLDTOWN but added that the horse was disadvantaged by carrying 134 lbs at its first run over 1600 Metres.
He added that it is his intention to relocate the horse to Conghua Racecourse for a freshen-up and will barrier trial OLDTOWN before racing again.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 THE LION KING (K265) J Orman Bumped and taken wider near the 300 Metres by AUDACIOUS PURSUIT.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) H Doyle Lay out making the Home Turn.
Horse No 4 BRIGHT INHERITANCE (J215) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 5 AUDACIOUS PURSUIT (K398) H Bowman Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.
When being shifted to the outside of AMAZING DUCK near the 300 Metres made contact with THE LION KING.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 GLORIASTAR (K439) L Ferraris Raced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
Horse No 7 PEARL OF PANG'S (J447) M Guyon Knuckled over on jumping.
When caught very wide in the early stages was ridden forward near the 800 Metres to cross GLORIASTAR after which PEARL OF PANG'S raced wide and without cover thereafter.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 THE GOLDEN KNIGHT (K341) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.
Between the 450 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Approaching the 150 Metres was eased and shifted to the inside of GLORIASTAR to continue into clear running.
C Y Ho reported that the intention was to hold a more forward position but after beginning only fairly his mount did not show sufficient pace to do so.
Horse No 9 SMART FAT CAT (K280) Z Purton Bounded on jumping and lost ground.
Near the 450 Metres was checked to avoid AUDACIOUS PURSUIT when SMART FAT CAT improved behind AUDACIOUS PURSUIT.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 TIME TO FIRE (K117) M F Poon M F Poon stated that from the outside barrier he was given the option of holding a more forward position.
He said whilst TIME TO FIRE commenced well it did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so and as a consequence settled back in the field.
He added that with the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time TIME TO FIRE finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 JOYFUL PROSPERITY (H213) B Avdulla Near the 200 Metres was steadied to avoid CONSPIRACY WITNESS (A Atzeni) which, after improving to the inside of PEARL OF PANG'S was then taken in slightly as PEARL OF PANG'S was giving ground.
A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

After getting held up until the 200m following a prominent run on the fence, firming favourite Audacious Pursuit lifted in the concluding stages for a maiden win at his sixth start. Smart Fat Cat came on nicely to finish a close second after recovering from a slow start to travel just worse than midfield on the fence. He relished a step up to 1,600m. The well-backed Amazing Duck wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating moderate fractions from gate one. He's capable on his day if allowed his own way in front. The Lion King kept on well for fourth after a speed-tracking run from gate nine. It was an improved effort at his second of two 1,600m runs down in Class Four. The Golden Knight came on late through the centre for fifth without threatening the top four after making his run one from the rear. He wasn't suited by the race tempo. Bright Inheritance made headway late near the inside after a rails run from behind midfield.
