Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (218) - CLASS 5 1400M TURF HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SMART ENGINEER (K244) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.
A Badel (MY FLYING ANGEL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of SMART ENGINEER, resulting in SMART ENGINEER losing its rightful running and having to be checked.
A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 7 December 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 11 December 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Jockey Badel was fined $90,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his poor race riding record.
Horse No 2 ZETTA FORCE (J546) C L Chau Briefly held up for clear running near the 400 Metres.
C L Chau confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 3 COLOURFUL WINNER (J312) Z Purton After being crossed by COLONEL leaving the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly and near the 600 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from COLONEL.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 BLING BLING GENIUS (J397) H Bowman Bounded on jumping and then shortly after was steadied when crowded by MAJESTIC DELIGHT which shifted out.
Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 JOLLY JUMPER (K110) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse had sustained a minor abrasion to the right hind leg.
Horse No 6 MAJESTIC DELIGHT (K189) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 7 MY FLYING ANGEL (J174) A Badel A Badel pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 500 Metres (see SMART ENGINEER).
Horse No 8 TEAM HAPPY (J218) H Doyle Near the 200 Metres became held up for clear running behind COLOURFUL WINNER and was then shifted to the outside of COLOURFUL WINNER in an attempt to obtain clear running.
Passing the 100 Metres was then steadied when disappointed for clear running between COLOURFUL WINNER and MY FLYING ANGEL.
As a result TEAM HAPPY could not be fully tested to the finish of the event.
Horse No 9 YOUNG HORIZON (G272) K Teetan Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.
Near the 400 Metres lay in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY JUMPER which shifted out.
Lay in in the Home Straight.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 KA YING POWER (H169) M L Yeung On jumping made contact with the right side of its starting gate and lost ground.
Near the 250 Metres was hampered and taken wider by ISLAND GOLDEN.
M L Yeung reported that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight, particularly with the middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 COLONEL (D090) D Probert D Probert could offer no explanation for the horse's failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

Before being allowed to race again, COLONEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination Horse No 12 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) L Ferraris On jumping was steadied when crowded between YOUNG HORIZON and HE WAS ME which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind BLING BLING GENIUS.
Horse No 13 HE WAS ME (J535) B Avdulla Shifted in and made contact with THE CONCENTRATION on jumping.
Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SMART ENGINEER which shifted out and away from COLONEL and JOLLY JUMPER (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in.
Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting in when not clear.
Horse No 14 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) M Guyon Raced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
Near the 250 Metres was hampered when taken wider by HE WAS ME which shifted out.

After a patient ride three from the rear, the well-backed Young Horizon quickened nicely to get up 120m out following a return to cheek pieces for a fourth win from 48 starts. After travelling five back on the fence, Bling Bling Genius ran on strongly for second after switching off the inside for a clear run 250m out. It was a solid run at his first start down in Class Five. After getting held up until the 200m, The Concentration wove a run late for third after travelling near last from gate seven. He can bob up at any moment. Favourite Colourful Winner stayed on fourth best after a one-off trip from better than midfield. It was an OK effort following a downgrade. My Flying Angel had his chance but came up one paced over the last 60m following a rails run travelling better than midfield. Majestic Delight was on his tippy toes 100m out after leading from gate four. He's improved from one run to the next from two starts following a downgrade.
