From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 KA YING GENERATION (J075) L Ferraris L Ferraris reported that the intention was to lead the race.
He said when his mount jumped only fairly and did not show sufficient pace to do so it settled further back in the field than intended.

Following a one-out, one-back run, short-priced favourite Romantic Warrior edged clear after taking the lead from Voyage Bubble 250m out for a 16th win from 20 starts. He's a superstar at 2,000m but credit must go to trainer Danny Shum Chap-shing for having him on the top of his game following fetlock surgery in May. Punted late, Voyage Bubble was given every chance setting a slow pace in front but found one better on the day. He was able to brush aside a mile defeat after a horror run. Ka Ying Generation ran on nicely for third after a rails run from midfield. It was a solid run on the back of a muddling pace off a 154-day break. Straight Arron plugged on one paced for fourth after a prominent run on the fence. He had his chance. Bundle Award came from last for fifth. It was a good performance in a race not run to suit. Ensued produced a grinding effort to finish next best after a one-off trip from better than midfield.
