Recap by phillip woo

Winning Wing saved ground behind midfield from gate one and just got the better of Prestige Good through the centre for back-to-back wins. It was a good ride by Dylan Mo Hin-tung, who did not panic when the complexion of the race changed 900m out. Prestige Good wouldn't go down without a fight after moving to the lead 400m out following a wide trip near the front from gate seven. It was a solid effort. Snowfield ran on well for third after making his run third last from gate 12. He's building towards a win after finding the line well in his past three starts. Gentlemen Legacy stuck on well to just take fourth after surprisingly taking off 950m out from better than midfield near the inside to vie for the front four wide. It was another honest performance. Enthralled made a nice bid to make it close for fourth after a patient ride fourth last from gate nine. It was a much-improved effort at his third start this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (201) - BOCHK "BANKING TRENDYTOO" HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Meters

Horse No 1 JUMBO LEGEND (G266) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with PRESTIGE GOOD.

Horse No 2 STUNNING PEACH (J301) Z Purton Z Purton stated that the intention was to hold a midfield position with cover.

He said when his mount jumped well and a number of runners to his inside that he expected to go forward did not, STUNNING PEACH held a more forward position in the early stages than expected.

He added that when caught wide making the first turn he elected to allow STUNNING PEACH to go forward and cross NOISY BOY to race one-off the rail to avoid covering additional ground.

Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions were to be in a midfield position.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 NOISY BOY (J536) E C W Wong Between the 600 Metres and the 500 Metres raced tight to the inside of GENTLEMEN LEGACY.

Between the 500 Metres and the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind PRESTIGE GOOD.

Horse No 4 BRAVEHEARTS (H389) M F Poon From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 5 GENTLEMEN LEGACY (K385) H Bowman When questioned H Bowman stated that after obtaining a three wide position behind PRESTIGE GOOD leaving the 1200 Metres he felt the pace of the event was not genuine.

He said as a consequence he then elected to shift to the outside of PRESTIGE GOOD to go forward and as a consequence he made contact with MONEY CATCHER on a number of occasions when MONEY CATCHER endeavoured to prevent him from shifting out.

He said after obtaining a position to the outside of PRESTIGE GOOD, GENTLEMEN LEGACY did not show sufficient pace to go forward and cross runners to his inside and this resulted in GENTLEMEN LEGACY racing wide and without cover thereafter.

He added that in the Home Straight GENTLEMEN LEGACY finished the race off reasonably well given the wide run it endured from the 1100 Metres.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of H Bowman, 4th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.

Horse No 6 ROMANTIC THOR (K012) J McDonald Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind STUNNING PEACH.

Horse No 7 WINNING WING (K129) H T Mo Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 SNOWFIELD (K251) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 10 ENTHRALLED (K252) K Teetan Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 PRESTIGE GOOD (K131) R Kingscote As C L Chau was unable to make the weight of 119 lbs on PRESTIGE GOOD, R Kingscote was substituted as the rider of that horse.

C L Chau was fined the sum of $5,000.

On jumping was bumped heavily by JUMBO LEGEND which shifted out, resulting in PRESTIGE GOOD becoming unbalanced.

Raced wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 MONEY CATCHER (G171) K C Leung Leaving the 1100 Metres made contact with GENTLEMEN LEGACY on a number of occasions when GENTLEMEN LEGACY was shifted to the outside of PRESTIGE GOOD to make a forward move.

H Bowman, rider of GENTLEMEN LEGACY, was advised he must exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 13 GREY CHARGER (K425) D Probert From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

D Probert was reprimanded for returning to scale overweight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor abrasion to its right hind leg.

Horse No 14 AGENDA (K160) H Doyle Jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider H Doyle becoming unbalanced and AGENDA losing ground.

The Stewards opened an inquiry into H Doyle's riding out of the horse in the Home Straight.

Jockey Doyle stated that her intention was to hold a more forward position but in the early stages was unable to do so.

She said throughout the event AGENDA hung in and proved difficult to ride out.

She added entering the Home Straight her mount was hampered when taken wider by ENTHRALLED when that runner shifted out at that point.

She said thereafter she was reluctant to ride her mount out as it continued to hang in and she was concerned if she rode it along it would shift in and either cause interference or be awkwardly placed on the heels of the runners in front.

She further stated that for this reason she was unable to fully test the horse over the final 400 Metres.

Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions issued and acknowledged the horse had previously hung in in its races and races best when being able to be positioned close to the running rail.

After considering her evidence the Stewards advised Jockey Doyle that, wherever possible, she must ensure that she fully tests her mounts during a race.

However, having regard to her explanations which were provided to the Stewards immediately after the race no action was taken.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The Stewards ruled that AGENDA must barrier trial to their satisfaction starting from a wide barrier before being permitted to race again which must include the horse being ridden out under pressure.
