Recap by phillip woo

Mr Good Vibes travelled one-off travelling better than midfield and after hitting the lead 150m out, he just held on for a second win at his 26th start. Panda Legend was eating up the ground late down the outside to finish a close second after biding his time third last and three wide from gate 11. He's a winner in waiting. Heavily backed Gangnam Star made a good late bid to finish a neck third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. The step up to 1,600m nearly worked after running on without threatening in his first two starts over 1,400m this term. Harry's Hero came on for fourth after getting held up for a run between the 350m and 100m ridden cold at the back from gate 13. He should have made it very interesting on the wire with clear running. Only U came on late through the centre for fifth after making his run third last from gate 14. Cosmo Light gradually faded after tracking the speed from gate six. It was an improved effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (160) - L'OREAL PARIS HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters

Horse No 1 ONLY U (J037) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running and was shifted to the outside of CELESTIAL HARMONY near the 300 Metres.

Horse No 2 CELESTIAL HARMONY (K059) P N Wong Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Bumped near the 350 Metres.

Apprentice P N Wong stated that her mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a consequence was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 PERFECT PEACH (E488) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

Z Purton could offer no excuse for the horse's failure to run on in the Home Straight.

Trainer C W Chang stated that PERFECT PEACH had pleased him leading into today's event but advised the horse was a little stirred up prior to the start of the race.

He added also, in his opinion, PERFECT PEACH does not appreciate racing in amongst other horses and this may have contributed to the horse's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of PERFECT PEACH was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT PEACH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 PANDA LEGEND (H002) R Kingscote On jumping was bumped by CELESTIAL HARMONY which shifted in.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SMART BEAUTY (G477) Y L Chung Near the 350 Metres made contact with CELESTIAL HARMONY when improving into a narrow run between MR GOOD VIBES and CELESTIAL HARMONY.

Horse No 7 LITTLE FAIRY (H206) H Doyle Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 100 Metres was shifted to the inside of PERFECT PEACH to continue into clear running.

Horse No 8 SMASHING EXPRESS (J252) B Avdulla Over the final 150 Metres was held up behind MANYTHANKS FOREVER and could not be ridden out to the finish of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 HARRY'S HERO (H332) K De Melo Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded by ONLY U which shifted in abruptly.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When questioned K De Melo stated his instructions from a wide barrier were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

He said as a consequence HARRY'S HERO settled back in the field where it followed PANDA LEGEND during the race.

When questioned regarding his riding near the 500 Metres K De Melo stated that when PANDA LEGEND shifted out at this stage his mount, which was racing keenly, improved to the inside of PANDA LEGEND and therefore he elected to remain in this position with a view to following ONLY U and PERFECT PEACH into the race.

He added after shifting to the outside of ONLY U near the 400 Metres he commenced to ride his mount along but near the 300 Metres he was disappointed for clear running between MR GOOD VIBES and ONLY U when that runner shifted out, which resulted in HARRY'S HERO being held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres.

After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey De Melo were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 11 MR GOOD VIBES (H180) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 SUPREME WINNER (J255) A Badel A Badel reported that from a wide barrier and with blinkers being removed he was instructed to ride SUPREME WINNER in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Trainer C H Yip confirmed the instructions and advised he issued those instructions as SUPREME WINNER has not been finishing its races off when ridden in a forward position and had barrier trialed well on 14 October 2025 when ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Horse No 13 GANGNAM STAR (H326) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the right side of its starting gate.

Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards considered if there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection against either MR GOOD VIBES being declared the winner or PANDA LEGEND being declared the second placegetter after both horses shifted ground near the finish of the event.

When the Stewards were satisfied that the crowding to GANGNAM STAR did not occur until passing the winning post they declined to lodge a protest/objection and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

Horse No LAPRAS (H374) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 8.11.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left hind) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MANYTHANKS FOREVER.

Before being allowed to race again, LAPRAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
