Punted late Uranus Star easily found the lead from gate two and was too smart for a win at his second local start. He was able to improve on a debut eighth last month at Sha Tin. Silvery Breeze ran on nicely for second after a one-off trip from midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen with seconds once each over 1,400m and the Valley 1,650m this term. A Americ Te Specso finished strongly late through the middle for third after a patient ride second last from gate 12. Like the latter, he should be saluting shortly after hitting the line strongly for placings in his past two starts. Sturdy Ruby made good ground late down the outside after making his run fourth last from gate 10. It was a good run up in grade following a win. Ivy League gradually faded after finding a spot on the leader's back from gate four. He's gone all right in both starts this term but will need to strike an easier contest. Victory Sky only plodded when asked for more after punching the breeze sitting one off in third. The step up to 1,650m backfired. Lovero will sleep well after getting posted wide and without cover travelling better than midfield the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (159) - HANSHIN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 CAMBRIDGE (K085) L Ferraris Bumped on jumping.

Making the turn near the 1300 Metres raced tight between LOVERO which shifted in and TOP GUN which shifted out when it made the turn awkwardly.

Horse No 2 EMBRACES (J276) C L Chau Bumped at the start.

C L Chau reported that his mount did not appreciate racing to the inside of VICTORY SKY during the event and finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 STORMING DRAGON (J237) L Hewitson For some distance approaching the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind EMBRACES which was giving ground.

Horse No 4 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 600 Metres raced tight to the inside of STURDY RUBY which lay in.

Horse No 5 SILVERY BREEZE (K057) B Avdulla Near the 300 Metres shifted to the outside of EMBRACES to obtain clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 STURDY RUBY (H207) C Y Ho Bumped on jumping.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 550 Metres shifted out when being corrected by its rider C Y Ho and as a result made contact with NOBLE PURSUIT.

Horse No 7 LOVERO (H451) Y L Chung Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to go forward.

He said in the early stages when a number of runners showed intent to hold an on-pace position and he was caught wide he elected to obtain a trailing position behind IVY LEAGUE.

He added when IVY LEAGUE was able to continue forward to obtain a position behind the leader near the 1200 Metres, LOVERO was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 9 TOP GUN (J249) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

Before being allowed to race again, TOP GUN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 10 URANUS STAR (K511) Z Purton On jumping shifted in and away from VICTORY SKY and bumped with EMBRACES.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 NOBLE PURSUIT (H324) A Badel Bumped near the 550 Metres.

Horse No 12 VICTORY SKY (J540) H Doyle Near the 200 Metres H Doyle dropped her whip.

GENERAL:

1.

After the running of Race 4, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 4 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

Trainer D Eustace was fined $5,000 for being in breach of Trainers' Handbook 85(b) in that his stable strength was in excess of the allowable number at Sha Tin Racecourse.

He was also warned in relation to using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner on one occasion near the 100 Metres.

Y L Chung (GUSTOSISIMO) was warned in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 200 Metres and again near the 150 Metres.

Race 10 (150) Y L Chung (MIGHTY STEED) was warned in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 200 Metres.
