Recap by phillip woo
Super Hong Kong took off from last 1,000m out to lead at the 800m and was too good in a class record time for a fifth win from 55 starts. He's always a chance over the Valley 2,200m and was stepping out of a career-low in the handicaps. Odds-on favourite Storm Runner only whacked on one paced for second after getting headed for the front. It was another honest performance, but he has proven costly without a win from 13 starts. Perpetual Power plugged on to just take third after a box-seat run from gate two. He was having his second run in Class Five and his previous best run was also over the same 2,200m. Romantic Fantasy fought back late to just miss a placing after looking beaten coming to the final bend following a pace-prompting run from gate four. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Leather Master just missed a first four spot after a oneout, one-back run. He had no excuse. Likely leader Wai May Wai Wai lost any chance travelling midfield on the fence after missing the kick. Punted late Mr Aladdin never landed a blow travelling one from the rear.
