Recap by phillip woo

Whacked late to jump favourite, Storm Rider found the box seat and after hitting the lead 200m out, he kept finding for a fourth win from 24 starts. He appreciated the light weight despite a rise in class following a near miss last start. Early favourite Colourful King couldn't quite peg back the winner after a prominent run with cover one off from gate 12. He's ready to salute the judge again after seconds in both starts this term. Aurora Lady ran on nicely near the inside for third after a rails run from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,200m. Old-timer Telecom Fighters stayed on nicely along the inside for fourth without threatening the top three after a rails run from midfield. It was a surprise result over an inadequate 1,200m. Gustosisimo got going late for fifth after making his run three from the rear. He's gone OK once across each track this term but does appear to need rating relief.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (149) - GUANGZHOU HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SELF IMPROVEMENT (H337) C L Chau On jumping was checked when crowded by STELLAR EXPRESS which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Horse No 2 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) E C W Wong Was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Raced tight to the inside of RED ELEGANCE near the 400 Metres.

Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied away from YOUTHFUL SPIRITS when that runner was giving ground, resulting in KAHOLO ANGEL being shifted to the outside of YOUTHFUL SPIRITS and racing tight between YOUTH SPIRITS and GUSTOSISIMO for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 3 COLOURFUL KING (K227) A Atzeni A Atzeni stated that from the outside barrier he was given no specific instructions but when his mount commenced well he was able to take up an on-pace position without having to make too much use of his mount to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE (J325) Z Purton Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by STORM RIDER which shifted out.

Near the 500 Metres was momentarily crowded by KAHOLO ANGEL which lay in.

Near the 400 Metres RED ELEGANCE shifted out to commence a forward move around SUPERB CAPITALIST.

When SUPERB CAPITALIST then shifted out RED ELEGANCE (H Bowman) then shifted back in slightly, resulting in KAHOLO ANGEL, which had improved to the inside of RED ELEGANCE, being taken in onto MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE which was crowded.

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 RED ELEGANCE (H241) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly, shifted out, bumped with SUPERB CAPITALIST and became unbalanced.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 7 SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092) M Chadwick On jumping was checked when crowded between SELF IMPROVEMENT and RED ELEGANCE which jumped awkwardly and shifted out.

When questioned M Chadwick stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover in the early stages.

He said near the 500 Metres he endeavoured to obtain a position with cover behind SELF IMPROVEMENT but when that runner shifted out slightly as he was shifting in, his mount inadvertently struck the heels of SELF IMPROVEMENT, blundered and became unbalanced.

M Chadwick was advised that he should ensure he does not position himself too close to the heels of other runners to avoid a similar incident occurring.

Horse No 8 AURORA LADY (J066) A Badel Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded between GUSTOSISIMO and YOUTHFUL SPIRITS which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid SELF IMPROVEMENT (C L Chau) which shifted in when not clear.

C L Chau was reprimanded.

Horse No 9 TELECOM FIGHTERS (D482) H T Mo Leaving the 600 Metres lay in and away from SELF IMPROVEMENT and made contact with the running rail.

Horse No 10 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 11 STORM RIDER (J027) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) M L Yeung M L Yeung confirmed that from a wide barrier his instructions were to go forward.

Horse No PACKING BOLE (H246) P N Wong Withdrawn on 1.11.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter STORM RIDER.

Before being allowed to race again, PACKING BOLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
