Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (142) - FOSHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 WITH A SMILE (K136) Z Purton Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Was left racing wide and without cover from the 700 Metres.
Horse No 2 ALL'S WELL (K294) M Chadwick Near the 900 Metres was steadied when crowded for room by JUICY DRAGON which shifted in and away from DAN ATTACK despite the efforts of its rider Apprentice P N Wong.
As the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Wong had endeavoured to correct her mount in this incident no action was taken.
Near the 150 Metres was steadied when crowded between WITH A SMILE and DENFIELD (H Bowman) which shifted to the outside of JUICY DRAGON to obtain clear running.
H Bowman was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
M Chadwick reported that after being crowded near the 900 Metres his mount finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 DENFIELD (G471) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of JUICY DRAGON.
After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on DENFIELD at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, DENFIELD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 4 MEOWTH (J487) C L Chau Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 5 GOOD FORTUNE (H349) L Ferraris Blundered on jumping, shifted out and made contact with SECOND TO NONE.
Leaving the 800 Metres became unbalanced when being corrected by its rider L Ferraris when it shifted in towards WITH A SMILE.
L Ferraris stated that his instructions were to go forward.
He said when he was unable to cross runners to his inside in the early stages his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also found the horse to have a substantial amount of blood in its trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, GOOD FORTUNE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 6 JUICY DRAGON (K405) P N Wong Bumped at the start.
Near the 1100 Metres made contact with WITH A SMILE when WITH A SMILE was racing tight to the inside of SONIC PURSUIT and when ALL'S WELL shifted out slightly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 SECOND TO NONE (H319) C Y Ho Bumped on jumping.
Horse No 9 QUICK CONTRIBUTION (K112) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between JUICY DRAGON and ALL'S WELL which shifted out slightly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SONIC PURSUIT (K051) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 12 DAN ATTACK (H317) H Bentley When questioned regarding the horse leading H Bentley stated that his instructions were to settle the horse where comfortable but had not anticipated leading the event.
He said after DAN ATTACK jumped well and was caught very wide in the early stages he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and lead to avoid covering additional ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 SNOWTHORN (K025) R Kingscote On exiting the Parade Ring R Kingscote was dislodged, resulting in SNOWTHORN galloping a considerable distance before being recaptured.
Acting on veterinary advice that SNOWTHORN was not suitable to race the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, SNOWTHORN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Well-backed Dan Attack pushed forward out wide to lead 800m out before slipping three lengths clear coming to the final bend and keeping up a strong gallop for a second win and first in Class Four this term. Quick Contribution ran on nicely near the inside for second after a rails run from behind midfield. It was a solid effort on his season debut and first start at the Valley. Sonic Pursuit kept on gamely for third after handing up the lead to sit second on the fence. It was a good run off a 249-day injury-induced absence. Denfield ran on nicely through the centre to just miss a placing after making his run one from the rear. He can bob up at any moment. With A Smile just lost fourth after a wide trip without cover from the 600m travelling midfield. It was an OK effort at his first run back following a heart irregularity in May. Meowth was making good ground late down the outside after a wide trip travelling third last from gate 12.
