Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Winning Wing was detached in a long last but quickened nicely down the outside to get up 100m out to record a second win from 11 starts. It was a huge run. Punted late Bravehearts found one too good with one wider out after making his run three from the rear. It was an improved effort. Money Catcher ran on well near the inside for third after making his run behind midfield on the fence. It was his best run in a while. Favourite Gentlemen Legacy found a few too good after briefly finding the lead 200m out following a one-off trip from behind midfield. He couldn't lift carrying a share of top weight after nearly winning 22 days ago over 1,800m. Snowfield ran on late for fifth after biding his time third last following a slow start. It was an improved run third up this term with a step up to 2,000m. Romantic Thor just plodded after a prominent run. Withallmyfaith kept on one paced after a one-off trip from midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (129) - PANASONIC VITALIFT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Meters

Horse No 1 BRAVEHEARTS (H389) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by ENTHRALLED which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 GENTLEMEN LEGACY (K385) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 ROMANTIC THOR (K012) K Teetan A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood in the mouth due to a small abrasion to the lip.

Horse No 4 SNOWFIELD (K251) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Horse No 5 ENTHRALLED (K252) H Bowman Near the 750 Metres became unbalanced when positioned tight to the inside of WITHALLMYFAITH.

H Bowman stated that his mount was disadvantaged by the early and middle stages of the race being run inside of standard time and was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of ENTHRALLED, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, ENTHRALLED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 7 WINNING WING (K129) H T Mo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 MONEY CATCHER (G171) K C Leung Held up on the Home Turn.

Horse No 9 AGENDA (K160) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

When questioned regarding his riding R Kingscote stated that he was instructed to hold a handy position preferably with cover.

He said in the early stages when caught wide and when KING OF SELECTION was positioned to his outside he elected to allow AGENDA to stride forward to attempt to obtain a position with cover.

He said when unable to obtain cover he allowed AGENDA to stride forward with a view to racing to the outside of S J TOURBILLON.

He said when S J TOURBILLON then shifted away from the rail this resulted in AGENDA continuing to race wide and therefore he elected to allow the horse to continue forward.

He added after S J TOURBILLON crossed to the lead he endeavoured to steady his mount to set a more sustainable pace but did not wish to place too much pressure on the horse to avoid it over-racing.

He said although he was aware the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time he felt it was in the best interests of the horse to maintain a comfortable rhythm as AGENDA is one-paced and would have to be able to run out a strong 2000 Metres.

After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Kingscote that, wherever possible, he should endeavour to set a more sustainable place to afford his horses with the best opportunity to finish the race off.

Horse No 10 MIGHTY STRENGTH (H450) E C W Wong A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 S J TOURBILLON (G138) P N Wong When questioned regarding her riding in the early and middle stages and in particular the fast pace that was set during the running of the race Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to lead the event.

She said in the early stages when crossed by MIGHTY STRENGTH she was content to remain racing behind that runner but after being crossed her mount commenced to race keenly and for this reason she shifted to the outside of MIGHTY STRENGTH with a view to maintaining a position to that horse's outside.

She added when AGENDA improved to her outside near the 1500 Metres S J TOURBILLON continued to race keenly and refused to settle which resulted in the horse racing forward and crossing MIGHTY STRENGTH to lead.

She said although she was aware that the pace of the event was fast she was unable to set a slower tempo due to AGENDA being positioned to her outside.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of S J TOURBILLON, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, S J TOURBILLON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 KING OF SELECTION (K397) A Badel Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 13 WITHALLMYFAITH (K428) M L Yeung In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1500 Metres was steadied away from ROMANTIC THOR.
