Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Oldtown was ridden patiently fourth last from gate four and timed things perfectly through the centre to just deny debutant Jubilant Star for a maiden win at his fourth start. Jubilant Star was pipped on the wire after poking his head in front 20m out ridden prominent along the inside following a slow start. It was an eye-catching run after showing promise in a good number of his five trials. Bunta Baby grudgingly gave way after clearing to lead near the 900m from gate 10. It was clearly his best run from 10 local runs. Voyage Boss stayed on well to finish a close fourth after a wide trip without cover from midfield. He looks ready to take his game to a higher level after disappointing twice following a debut win. Invictus Dragon made good ground late to just miss the top four after settling last at one point from gate eight. He's still a work in progress but did flash potential in one of two starts last term.
