It was a one-two-three result for trainer Mark Newnham. Sing Dragon pinged straight to the lead from gate nine and kept up a strong gallop to land a betting plunge. He loves the dirt and did have an excuse in his only previous start over the all-weather 1,650m. Early favourite Talents Ambition ran on nicely near the inside for second after a rails run travelling worse than midfield. He has terrific dirt 1,650m form. Post time favourite Mojave Desert ran on nicely through the centre for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another good run up in class following a win last month. Soleil Fighter had to settle for fourth after coming over from gate 11 to eventually chase the leader on the fence. He's an honest performer on either surface. Noisy Boy ran on near the outside for fifth after making his run one from the rear. It was an improved effort. Capital Delight made inroads late without threatening after biding his time four from the rear.
