Race Seven : (72) - THE ASSOCIATION OF HONG KONG RACING JOURNALISTS 40THANNIVERSARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) B Avdulla After the event B Avdulla reported that, in his opinion, STELLAR EXPRESS was on the wrong section of the track from barrier 1 which he felt was detrimental to his mount's chances today.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 PACKING BOLE (H246) P N Wong Jumped awkwardly.
Crowded for room after passing the 500 Metres.
After the event Apprentice P N Wong was of the view that PACKING BOLE is better suited on the All Weather surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 WHIZZ KID (E392) Z Purton After the event Z Purton was of the view that his mount would derive benefit from today's first up effort.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 WE ARE HERO (G207) E C W Wong Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between WONDERSTAR and CASA OF HONOR which shifted out, resulting in YOUTHFUL SPIRITS becoming unbalanced near the 150 Metres.
Horse No 6 FAST RESPONDER (J295) J Orman L Hewitson (METRO POWER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the 500 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out leaving insufficient room for PACKING BOLE and FAST RESPONDER which were racing to his outside, resulting in FAST RESPONDER being checked and losing its rightful running.
L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 26 October 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
Horse No 7 METRO POWER (K408) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.
L Hewitson was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference after passing the 500 Metres (see FAST RESPONDER).
After the event L Hewitson could offer no excuse for his mount's performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 CHILL BUDDY (K469) A Atzeni Proved difficult to proceed to the Start.
A warning was placed on the horse regarding its pre-race parade manners.
Horse No 11 SUPERB KING (K479) A Badel Bumped at the start with THE ALL OUT.
Horse No 12 THE ALL OUT (K291) K Teetan Bumped at the start with SUPERB KING.
Horse No 13 QUICK MONEY (K377) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and was then checked between SUPERB KING which shifted out after being bumped by THE ALL OUT and SIR CHARGE which shifted in before being straightened by its rider.
Horse No 14 SIR CHARGE (K361) M L Yeung On jumping got unbalanced after shifting in and making contact with QUICK MONEY.

Wonderstar sat third in the run and after moving to the lead 300m out, he edged clear in the centre of the track for a second win from 20 starts on his first attempt over the straight 1,000m. He had run well in two other starts over 1,200m this term. Well-fancied We Are Hero ran on nicely near the far side to grab second after switching off heels for a clear run 300m out from behind midfield. It was a good run on his seasonal debut following a win in July. Youthful Spirit kept on well for third after a handy run. It was his best effort from three starts over the straight 1,000m. Casa Of Honor stayed on well for fourth after a handy run. He did flash potential to place in one of two Valley 1,000m runs last term. Specked late Chill Buddy made good ground for fifth near the far side after a patient ride gate two. It was an improved effort. Fast Responder only plodded after getting hampered 450m out travelling better than midfield on the grandstand side.
