Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (41) - KAU TO SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 LUCK IS BACK (J398) H Bentley Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 2 ILLUMINOUS (J170) K De Melo Bumped at the start.
After the event K De Melo stated that his mount was disadvantaged by having to carry 134 lbs on the Soft track conditions and as a consequence did not run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) Y L Chung Slow to begin.
Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 4 WITHOUT DELAY (K262) J Orman Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When questioned J Orman stated that from a wide barrier he rode his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as instructed.
He said making the Home Turn due to the heavy rain he lowered his goggles which provided him with better visibility after the 400 Metres.
He added that approaching the 200 Metres when positioned close to NEWBORN MIRACLE he shifted to that runner's inside but again his visibility was restricted when positioned behind BEAUTY VIVA and as a consequence he could not ride his mount with his usual vigour over the final 200 Metres.
Horse No 7 PEARL OF PANG'S (J447) K C Leung Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 NEWBORN MIRACLE (J477) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.
Raced keenly when positioned outside the lead in the early and middle stages.
After the event C Y Ho stated that his mount, in his opinion, did not run out a strong 1600 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 GOOD GOOD (J224) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 STAR BROSE (J463) Z Purton Shortly after the start was crowded by HAPPY UNIVERSE which shifted in and away from NEWBORN MIRACLE.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of STAR BROSE Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, the horse's barrier trial leading into the race had been only fair.
He added that STAR BROSE travelled satisfactorily through the run but failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Hammered late in betting, Good Good just clung on after driving to the lead along the inside 1,000m out for a second win from 13 starts. He seemed to appreciate the wet going. Pearl Of Pang's made it close on the wire after a prominent run wide without cover from gate 10. It was solid effort after ending last season with a win. Punted late, Happy Universe was only beaten a neck for second after a wide trip with cover travelling better than midfield. He was able to resume with a good performance after a win at his final start last season. Special Hedge kept on well for fourth after a handy run on the fence. It was another honest effort despite a stable change. Beauty Viva ran on steadily near the inside for fifth after getting held up early in the straight after travelling behind midfield coming to the final bend. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Rosewood Fleetfoot just plodded after a one-out, one-back run.
