Recap by phillip woo

Hakka Radiance worked forward three wide to track leader Golden Fairy from gate eight before edging clear after assuming the lead 350m out for a first win at his 25th local start. He had always promised do this after five placings in Class Four last season. Yeaboi ran on well for second after coming off the fence following a prominent run. He was able to build on a positive run at the Valley 11 days ago. Smashing Express made good ground late through the centre for third after a wide trip with cover from midfield. He appreciated the step up in distance after a non-threatening ninth over 1,600m on opening day. Storm Runner stayed on fourth best after getting posted three wide chasing the speed without cover from gate 10. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Chateau Le Peche ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear. He should come on for this run.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (37) - KOWLOON TSAI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

Horse No 1 STORM RUNNER (J452) Z Purton Shifted in abruptly at the start and was bumped.

When questioned Z Purton stated that the intention was to endeavour to hold an on-pace position, preferably with cover.

He said after commencing well he was able to settle in a handy position in the early stages but when HAKKA RADIANCE continued forward to race outside the lead STORM RUNNER was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding his vigour in the Home Straight, particularly between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres Z Purton stated that when YEABOI shifted out this resulted in STORM RUNNER wanting to lay out and away from that horse which then restricted his ability to ride his mount with full vigour at that point as his focus was on keeping STORM RUNNER balanced.

He added that STORM RUNNER continued to respond to his urgings to the finish of the event and, in his opinion, is looking for additional distance in its races.

Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions issued.

Horse No 3 HAKKA RADIANCE (J105) H Bowman On jumping was crowded between COLOURFUL BARON and SUPER HONG KONG.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 CHATEAU LE PECHE (H471) C L Chau Shortly after the start made contact with YEABOI due to both runners shifting ground.

Horse No 7 COLOURFUL BARON (G301) L Ferraris In the early and middle stages raced keenly.

Horse No 8 MR ALADDIN (H386) A Badel After the event A Badel stated that his mount was slow to begin and settled at the rear of the field.

He said in the Home Straight MR ALADDIN found it difficult to make up ground from that position.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 SUPER HONG KONG (D241) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by STORM RUNNER which shifted in abruptly.

After the event K Teetan stated that his mount did not appreciate the Yielding track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 YEABOI (G372) M F Poon Shortly after the start made contact with CHATEAU LE PECHE due to both runners shifting ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.
