Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed late King Lotus settled behind midfield on the inside rail and took control 100m out to make it two wins from four starts. He appreciated a return to the course and distance of a win in May. The Perfect Match stayed on well for second after a box-seat run. It was a good effort after a very long layoff. Punted late Super Universal kept on gamely for third after working like a trojan to track the leader Spicy Spangle from gate eight. He's naturally shown progress on his three starts. Ace Power ran on strongly with one wider out to just miss a placing following a patient ride one from the rear. It was a good effort carrying 8lb more following a win. Sky Song kept on well with two wider out after a handy run one off the fence. He should come on from this run. Favourite Vulcanus peaked on his run 100m out after a prominent run one off the fence. It was a tougher assignment carrying 10lb more following a win. Spicy Spangle grudgingly gave way late after dictating the run from gate four. He's more effective over the Valley 1,000m.
