Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (23) - KWONG FUK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 RAGGA BOMB (K162) R Kingscote Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 2 FORERUNNER (G465) M Chadwick When questioned M Chadwick stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position but it was important that he obtained cover.
He said shortly after the start when positioned to the outside and in advance of STRATHPEFFER, he was of the opinion that runner would continue to obtain a more forward position.
He said when STRATHPEFFER did not continue forward he was concerned that he would be obliged to race wide and without cover and for this reason he elected to ease his mount to follow STRATHPEFFER to avoid covering additional ground.
He added that as a consequence of this FORERUNNER raced further back in the field than what he had been instructed.
Trainer W K Mo confirmed the instructions issued.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 ENJOY GOLF (J222) H Bentley After the event H Bentley stated that his mount was able to lead comfortably but failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was most disappointing.

Horse No 4 MAX QUE (J514) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 AEROINVINCIBLE (J180) C Y Ho Raced keenly when positioned outside the lead in the early and middle stages.

Horse No 7 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 8 POSITIVE SMILE (J467) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.
For some distance after the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when unable to improve between NO OTHER CHOICE and FANTASTIC FUN which resulted in POSITIVE SMILE being shifted to the inside of NO OTHER CHOICE to secure clear running.
Horse No 9 STRATHPEFFER (H095) L Hewitson After the event L Hewitson stated that his mount jumped awkwardly and as a consequence settled further back in the field than what he had intended.
He added that approaching the 400 Metres his mount was steadied to avoid RAGGA BOMB when that runner was taken wider by FANTASTIC FUN.
He said in this incident STRATHPEFFER lay in and as a result contributed to the incident.
Horse No 10 NO OTHER CHOICE (K049) D Probert After the event D Probert advised that he was given no specific instructions but when his mount commenced well he elected to hold an on-pace position.
Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued and stated that with the hood being removed for today's race the horse may have shown better gate speed as a consequence.
Horse No 11 CELTIC TIMES (G230) M F Poon Despite being ridden along in the early stages did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Briefly held up near the 400 Metres.

Favourite Max Que enjoyed a prominent run on the fence and rushed to the lead 150m for a first win at his 10th start. He deserved that after seconds four times last term. Punted late Aeroinvincible held on for second after poking his head in front 300m out following a speed-tracking run outside Enjoy Golf from gate 11. He is a well-rated runner on the back of 58-rated success in October. No Other Choice kept on for third at juicy odds after sitting one off behind the leading pair. It was a vastly-improved performance on the quick back up following a gear change and step up to 1,400m. Firming late in betting, Positive Smile got up for fifth after getting held up for a run between the 300m and 150m following a patient ride at the rear of the field. He can produce a positive run now and then. Strathpeffer made ground late near the outside for fifth after making his run five back and three wide with cover. He appeared to need the outing.
