Recap by phillip woo

Bienvenue raced prominently and wide withot cover the entire trip from gate 12 but moved to the lead 200m out and drew clear for a second win from 13 starts. Flying Wrote just held on for second after poking his head in front upon straightening following a speed-tracking run outside Glory B from gate 10. He's close to a win over this Valley trip. Favourite Lucky Sam Gor ran on nicely through the centre to just miss second prize money after biding his time two from the rear. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in his past three starts across both tracks. Denfield ran on nicely down the outside for fourth after a wide trip travelling fourth last from gate 11. He should come on for this run. Vigor Elleegant ran on steadily near the inside for fifth following a midfield run just off the fence. It was a better effort at his second run back in Class Four following a win. Run Run Smart just held his ground after a wide trip with cover from midfield. Thunder Prince ran on without threatening settling last from gate eight. Charming Babe was restless in the gates and withdrawn by stewards.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (17) - QUARRY BAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 BIENVENUE (J490) Z Purton Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 GLORY B (H373) L Hewitson After the event L Hewitson stated that whilst it was not his intention to lead, GLORY B commenced well and he was able to hold the lead without having to apply too much pressure to do so.

He added that he was able to set a moderate tempo outside of standard time during the middle stages but on straightening his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.

Trainer D J Whyte stated that the preference was to ride the horse with cover having regard to its weight of 133 lbs.

He said nevertheless he was still disappointed with the horse's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GLORY B, a last start winner, was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORY B will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 DENFIELD (G471) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 GREAT SPIRIT (J155) M F Poon Near the 100 Metres was accidentally struck across the nose by the whip of A Badel, the rider of RUN RUN SMART, when racing tight to the inside of that runner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 THUNDER PRINCE (K017) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 FLYING WROTE (J290) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 VIGOR ELLEEGANT (J375) Y L Chung After the event Y L Chung stated that the intention was to be in a forward position and lead if circumstances permitted.

He said his mount jumped only fairly and shortly after the start raced in restricted room between GLORY B and METAL KING which was taken in by LUCKY SAM GOR, which resulted in it settling further back than intended.

Horse No 11 LUCKY SAM GOR (K114) A Atzeni Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres where it secured a narrow run between RUN RUN SMART and DENFIELD.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 METAL KING (K135) K C Leung Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded by LUCKY SAM GOR which shifted in slightly.

Near the 1100 Metres was again steadied when crowded between LUCKY SAM GOR and VIGOR ELLEEGANT which was taken out by GREAT SPIRIT when that runner shifted out and away from MOTOMAN.

Leaving the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of MOTOMAN to continue into clear running.

METAL KING was then briefly held up behind GLORY B approaching the 200 Metres before obtaining clear running to that horse's inside.

Horse No 1 CHARMING BABE (J513) C Y Ho Became fractious after being loaded and got its left front leg over the starting gate partition for a considerable period of time.

Acting on veterinary advice that CHARMING BABE was not suitable to race the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, CHARMING BABE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
