Racing Incident Report
Race Three : (13) - NORTH POINT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 MASTER CHAMPION (K266) K Teetan Bumped shortly after the start.
Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind HARMONY FIRE.
After being shifted to the inside of HARMONY FIRE leaving the 150 Metres then raced tight to that runner's inside for a short distance thereafter when HARMONY FIRE shifted in slightly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 MOON ROCKET (K324) M F Poon Shifted in at the start, was bumped and became unbalanced.
In the middle stages raced keenly.
For some distance near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid PLENTIFUL.
Near the 300 Metres made contact with GRAND NOVA when being shifted to the outside of PLENTIFUL to obtain clear running.
For some distance near the 200 Metres MOON ROCKET then raced in restricted room between GRAND NOVA and PLENTIFUL, both of which shifted ground slightly.
Over the concluding stages shifted in, resulting in its rider M F Poon having to stop riding with the whip and correct his mount.
Horse No 3 SUPER SIXTY (J071) E C W Wong Over the final 50 Metres could not be fully ridden out when held up behind HARMONY FIRE.
Horse No 4 GRAND NOVA (J323) H Bowman Near the 300 Metres and again near the 200 Metres bumped with MOON ROCKET.
Horse No 5 PLENTIFUL (G400) C L Chau Bumped shortly after the start.
Leaving the 600 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid HARMONY FIRE.
Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing in restricted room between SERGEANT PEPPER and MOON ROCKET which shifted in slightly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 CRYSTAL POWERFUL (H068) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni stated that the intention was to hold a forward position but when his mount bounded as the start was effected, it lost ground and settled further back in the field than intended.
Horse No 7 SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) K C Leung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 8 GALLANT REX (K243) D Probert Jumped awkwardly.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being shifted across behind runners in the early stages raced keenly and got its head up.
Horse No 9 HARMONY FIRE (E175) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 ROMANTIC PARTY (K372) R Kingscote On jumping was bumped by MOON ROCKET which shifted in, resulting in ROMANTIC PARTY becoming unbalanced.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 HAPPY BOYS (J545) L Hewitson On jumping made contact with the left side of its barrier.
Had difficulty obtaining clear running after the 250 Metres when being shifted to the outside of MOON ROCKET and GRAND NOVA to obtain clear running.

Old-timer Harmony Fire tracked the speed from gate 10 before poking his head in front 250m and just scrambling in for a fifth win at his 44th start. He had caught the eye in a trial after putting the writing on the wall with a second in July. Late-fancied favourite Master Champion found one just too good along the inside after a prominent run on the fence. It was a vastly-improved effort following a downgrade. Hammered late in betting, Moon Rocket ran on nicely to finish a close third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was a solid run at his first time of asking over the Valley 1,000m. Early favourite Grand Nova ran on well for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run in this grade. Veteran Sergeant Pepper wasn't beaten far in the end after chasing the speed three wide and without cover from gate 11. Super Sixty was short of room late near the inside after a rails run from better than midfield. He should have finished closer. Plentiful peaked on his run 100m out after a handy run one off the fence. He likely needed the outing following lameness in May.
