Race Two : (2) - KOWLOON PEAK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 SMART BEAUTY (G477) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 CERVIN (H253) K De Melo Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Lay in in the Home Straight.
After the event K De Melo stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Trainer W Y So confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 4 HAKKA RADIANCE (J105) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded between PERFECT PEACH and APOLAR FIGHTER which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
After the event A Atzeni reported that his mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages and as a consequence did not finish the race off when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 DRACO (J115) K C Leung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 APOLAR FIGHTER (J169) B Avdulla Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with HAKKA RADIANCE.
Horse No 9 SMASHING EXPRESS (J252) M F Poon From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 10 PERFECT PEACH (E488) Z Purton Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

Horse No 14 MR ALADDIN (H386) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the Home Turn was hampered when taken wider by FAMILY FORTUNE which shifted out to improve.

Early favourite Perfect Peach was wide with cover in midfield before rushing to the lead 250m out and keeping up a strong gallop for a third win at his 38th start. Family Fortune ran on nicely to just get the head down for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He can break through shortly off his current mark. Punted late Mr Aladdin made up heaps of ground late down the outside after making his run second last from gate 13. He lived up to a second at his final start last season. Apolar Fighter ran on steadily for fourth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. He should come on for the run. Post-time favourite Draco gradually gave way after rushing forward to track the leader Hakka Radiance 650m out following a prominent run wide without cover from gate 12. He had an excuse. Super Hong Kong came from last to finish next best. It was a pleasing effort over an inadequate trip.
